I was looking looking for a home where I can make the best of my skills and surround myself with people who are smart, humble, and hard working and I found it here. My mentors are wonderful and above all they care about my well being and where/how I want to grow within FMI. The benefits, perks, and compensation are top notch for the industry. The people in general are fantastic and always willing to help. They encourage employees who want to excel to take courses to help better themselves and are in general always encouraging the betterment of all employees who want a future here. The experience as a remote employee has been top notch. I never feel alone as my co workers now are like family to me. My wife and I just had a baby and FMI sent out a little care package with a card signed by the CEO + President, it's a tiny gesture but huge in showing that they care about each individual who works for them. Originally hailing as an Electrician I switched roles into more office-based which has opened up many more doors than any of the other companies I was with ever could. If you are willing to work hard, listen, learn, and be a team player then this is one of the best companies you can apply to in BC as there are so many different opportunities as long as you are willing.

The good people at FMI are what make working for this company a pleasant experience.  As an older employee, I enjoy working side-by-side with younger, innovative and motivated workers.  The workplace culture is positive, supportive, collaborative and in some ways, a family-type environment.  

I am the corporate health & safety professional, and I am encouraged by the support I have received in helping create a safe work culture based on personal values and beliefs.  With few exceptions, everyone in the company - particularly within the leadership group - has embraced the importance of incorporating worker safety and health into every day business decisions.  Worker safety has simply become 'just the way we do things around here.'  

Yes, there is always room for improvement.  But leading and lagging metrics clearly illustrate that FMI is on the right track to becoming a leader in the industrial high voltage electrical construction industry.

My work is highly varied, and there is always a new program or strategy to work on. The company listens to ideas from employees and allows the creativity to flow. FMI is a company that has grown a lot but still operates like it’s your uncle’s weekend startup he threw together last week that happened to find success. They want to be better and talk a lot about it, but ownership and management are penny-pinchers. Resources are stretched thin, and they care about the bottom line more than anything else. While they may pretend otherwise, it simply does not ring true in their actions. If they can get 1.5 persons’ output from one person, they will push and see just how much they can get out of you. They run very lean in personnel and resources. From what I see, nepotism does rear its head in this company, and issues related to it do show up in management. They have plenty of projects on the go, and work keeps coming. Pay raises don't happen. Overall, it’s still a solid place to work but not amazing but you can find opportunity here to build pieces of your career.

Best employer I have ever worked for hands down. Family owned and operated, very successful. Everyone plays an important role from the bottom up in keeping day to day operations running smoothly. Do your part to keep the wheels turning and be rewarded with the respect and compensation you deserve. 
They truly care about safe work practices and have daily and weekly safety meetings with safety procedures written for every task you could possibly injure yourself doing. 
I have seen more of western Canada by plane and driving than ever imagined

FMI is a great company to be part of, the work is diverse and interesting and opportunity for growth is huge. A work/live balance is expected and encouraged, and management is approachable, flexible and supportive. The people are professional, personable and fun – we laugh a lot!! My role & responsibilities are clear and the performance expectations are high, but reasonable. The wage and holidays and leave time are also reasonable. There is a strong sense of ownership of work in a collaborative and highly productive team environment that is satisfying to be in.

A great company for professional growth

Work like a dog all day for pennies in wages. Always expected to do more without fair compensation. Management treats staff horribly, back stabbing and talking bad about you behind your back. Work is never just left at work. You're made to feel bad if you're sick. Constantly scrutinized for everything you do. Toxic work environment. If you get called for an interview, Run in the other direction. You do NOT want to work here.
