I am very grateful for being allowed to join the First Nations University. They made me realize the teaching we grow up with are instilled in the walls of this institution.  The honest and respectful Faculty and Staff had made me realize alot of my abilities,  goals, inspirations and teachings. This University taught me how to be welcoming to my own culture. They were my Mushum, my kokum, my Dad, my Mom, my sister my everything. They supported me when I was going through domestic violence and they kept me in school to keep me safe. They hired me as a Student Librarian & when that happened it changed my mind and soul. We are half asleep sometimes & I had been really inspired to learn more. Understand myself as an Indigenous person and what it looks like and takes to continue to build that Cree girl from the rez you know. You are humble. You are kindhearted. You are taught to give back. You are taught to be a good person. You are taught by experience. You are taught through elders teachings and the honor to be apart of such a beautiful traditional school. Hiyhiy miigwech 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some of the people were great.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The band like  politics of the atmosphere and people wanting to eliminate each other 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Complete mistrust of each other. You can do the best work you can there, however the band office atmosphere is incredibly corrupt. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
People don’t want to be there and everybody is a clock watcher. People always confide how they are afraid of losing their job due to politics. Corruption in processes is common

* Gathering all the glassware and materials needed for the day experiment
* Conducting experiment steps after proper instructions
* Conducting computer based research and reading to provide the team
with the latest essay method of extraction
* testing medicinal plant samples using HPLC and GC instruments
* Keep a safe and clean work environment during and after
experiments
* assisting the supervisor successfully conduct essays on plants extracts
* Cleaning glassware

First Nations University of Canada offers programming in a culturally appropriate setting, offering various programs for urban and rural Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.
The small campus has a 'family' feel to it, as it is easy to get to know most of the names of the staff, faculty and students.  
From Library Assistant to Teacher's Assistant, it was enjoyable to work at First Nations University.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Leaving work at the end of the day was the best part of working for the company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not being treated fairly and having to protest that we must all be treated fairly!!! Not just being treated fairly because we know someone!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Nepotism, as you need to know someone to get on permanently!

its a great place to work and attend school. Being a student librarian assistant, it gives you a bit of work experience and a bit of extra pocket change for the struggling student. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to help students and have conversations with them about books and classes.

first nations university was a volunteer work selling and handling the elders lodge was great volunteer experience communicated well with most of the community selling tickets for 50/50 draws refilling the good in the elders lodge and having great partners working with you

I enjoyed my work at First Nations University, the people were friendly and easy to get along with.  I learnt how to adapt to the fast pace of the environment.  In addition, the hours were exactly what I needed to continue on with schooling at the University.

Love talking to the students and teachers about books and dvd's. Really enjoy working there because my day is usually me helping students with books, printer, and information on online e-books.

I would say that working here is a good job for when you are going to school and need a little money on the side. I would suggest working here if you are a student living on campus.
