Future Electronics

Like most Sales jobs, there is no manual/amount of training to prepare you for a day, never mind a full week. No day is the same for the most part. But in about a month or so of working you'll learn how to know whats important and what can wait. You learn to be efficient at your day. 

Future Electronics has a great internal Team set up for the Sales teams to allow co-workers to ask and work on problems together to educate each other. There are trainings provided but in the end you need to adapt and force yourself into the role to fully comprehend the Job in it's entirety.
Yes it's stressful but the Sales teams commission is a way to know you're doing well. 

Management is getting better with dealing with the Sales teams but in the end it's a Sales job and the numbers matter. 

Don't let others convince you not to apply, if you're wanting to make money and want to have someone else provide the accounts/contacts, apply at Future Electronics and you'll be able to be successful as long as you try and do the job. This is not a customer service job in that calls come to you, you literally have to call and build the relationship with the buyers. This is where 90% of anyone fails as they expect customers to just give them orders/business. 

Give it a shot as you have nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Future Electronics is an impressive Global company with a good structure and solid idea of where it wants to be. The hiring department does an extremely good job of bringing mostly likeable and creative people into the company, the people really make Future.

Positions at Future are very flexible and there is a focus on keeping talented people. The idea is that any employee in the company should be able to work towards any position they want, there is a lot of internal promotion, cross-training and opportunity for movement.

Unfortunately, in the ever-changing world of electronics, Future has fallen behind the competition and is failing to keep up with the constantly connected world. Elements of the business are bogged down in unnecessary paperwork, out-dated systems and good ideas are often implemented long after they should have been.

The salary structure is not very transparent and often members of the same team can earn double of one of their other team members.

The team in EMEA are easy to deal with, but the North American team have a habit of being too 'Corporate' at times, which can cause issues, especially when time is a factor.

A typical day for me in my unique role was providing laboratory results (measurements and proof of concept units) as requested by customers.  I would be building a retrofit while performing a measurement request, then write a report on it.  
I learnt everything I know on LEDs and integrating them into luminaires.  
Management for me was several levels above me (my boss kept me sheltered from it) but, like anywhere, there are some good and some not so good managers.  In a company of 5500 employees, I lucked out with some good ones.
Most of my coworkers were great and very helpful.
The hardest part of the job was providing satisfactory timeline expectations when either ales reps or customers were not understanding my logistical difficulties in getting some specific parts.  
All the lab work I did was fun, sometimes long & difficult, but very rewarding in the end; I miss it!
Also, to have worked in 2 other countries is experience that I loved and enjoyed working with different countries and people.  Very rewarding too!

Not the best workplace, but it's a good place to start if you're out of school or just looking for job stability. Other than that, AVOID at all cost. Family-owned company and they are very stuck in their own old-fashioned ways. High turnover rate because they don't listen to their employees, and when they do it's because it's already too late. They are losing employees left and right and they wonder why. It's complete chaos everywhere because of the lack of communication and organization.

It's very relative.  I worked at Future 12 years ago now, so things have changed, yet the culture and foundation will never change.  If you're hoping to coast through your day and fly under the radar; not the place for you. If you're driven to succeed, enjoy a challenge, are a hard worker by nature this could be the place for you.  There are many benefits and pros to working at Future, don't believe all the hype!  On site gym, amazing cafeteria just a couple of major perks.  As for management, it really depends where you're working.  You can have many careers here, as there are so many different departments under the same roof.  Upper management tends to be demanding and expectation very high.  Mid-management can be awful or fantastic - again, it's all relative.  The relationships you make at Future though are extraordinary, and we are a 'family' for sure whether still there or moved on.  You will make friends for life and no matter what, having Future on your resume is a big feather in your cap!

A typical day at work would consist of coming in and contacting all your existing customer in your account base. After that was done, cold calling to try to gain new customers, new business. I learnt that having a relationship with your customer's is very important and that customer service is key. Management was horrible. It took forever for someone to help you and you never got the support and encouragement one deserves from a manager. My co-workers were the reason that kept me from quitting my job, I met some very nice people! Hardest part of this job was that management expecting you to call your customers daily, however a lot of busy buyers don't like to be contacted via the phone and just want to be contacted via emails. That didn't slide with management. They want to see you building a relationship with your customers (which is fine) so if they don't like to be contacted via the phone, find a way to get them on the phone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Supportive leaders, pleasent work environment, a place where you would love to stay for many years.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I really can't remember being stressed there much. Loved working there.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Honestly it is a great place to work. I always felt like we are a big family there. I have made many friends while working at Future. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was taking care of any security related situations. Writing reports, dealing with employees requiries ext. I felt that our procedures are adequate and there is always a support available in complicated cases. The team worked as one organism and we had good relationships inside the team and with other departments.

Future Electronics has changed a lot and unfortunately for the worst.
I worked with different managers and they were all horrible.
Kick the can and cover yourself. No help just spying on employers that's how they see the role. HR are 90% on managers side. They cover up and downplay any misconduct. There is no mediation it's only our way or the highway. Don't even try to provide constructive criticism. You must be a "Yes" man . Like I said any good perks like gym or cafetorium are crossed out by management and nepotism. Not worth your time. Go elsewhere. Seriously avoid this place.    

There are many great people that work at Future but the main problem are the suckups that are in management. Most of them are not needed and most of them don't do anything. They hassle you for the stupidest things. They want you to do everything and then some for such low pay. There's too much harassment and over work. Lots of times I would work until 10pm at night from 8:30am. co-workers that can't pull the same weight as you get promoted. Its nuts. Loved the years and some people that I worked with but its too stressful for no reason. People are NOT organized and make the littlest thing personal.

The day pas very fast, work load is high and challenging. not a boring...

The management is aware of the worker needs, providing the necessary tools to achieve the proper goals...

The culture is a bit uncertain so far...

The hardest part of the job is getting every one involved in a project to get the job done on the proper time...

The most enjoyable part of the job is to build relationships across the globe that can improve the overall outcome of each project...
