Gemma Communications

Had an excellent learning experience working in Gemma, had a lot of learning,enjoyed each and every bit of my duties / responsibilities.
Will certainly miss the place always as I have very good memories in this workplace.
Some of the coworkers were really nice to work with, got many friends, team lead was a very nice and sweet person, it was a pleasure working with her.
However, what I feel is there is a lot of gap yet to be filled in the Organisation. Management should invest a bit towards implementing some training programs for the TLs in terms of retention of best of their employees who can be a consistent asset to the system. High attrition is not just for low pay but also for the unprofessionalism potrayed on the floor. Sometimes it doesn’t  look as if we are in office, looks we are in a market place....the floor becomes so noisy! A lot of drama of some employees are tolerated on the floor which again affects business.
Team Leads should be definitely educated about the importance of some of the HR aspects like Grievance handling, Employee Retention, People Management, etc as I feel HR training programs are as important as a Compliance training program because it is the employees who can make or break an Organization!
All in all I feel Gemma is doing a great job, just that the complacent management which is in place at present should be much more ambitious to excel in global competition.

Every day was a challenging day,because end of the day it self motivated, we had lot of traning before even we started.

I learned lot of new things like how I could improve my call quality,what exact phrases i am supposed to use and feed back was given all most every day by my supervisor.

Mangement was very Understanding of employee need,as well as very cooperative when situations was not ok with the employees.

My co-workers used to be different each shift in the begining but still everyone were allmost very helpful and cooperative with each othere ,if i am postive it is posssible to work even with co-workers who is negative.

For me hardest part of the job was not my difficult customers,because i like always converet customer who says no to yes,my hardestpart was my timings was not suitable .

The most enjoyable part of the job when i got in to a different depatment i had great supervisor,co-workers and my job was very interesting,because everyday we had incentives and some special suprises.

Not much to write... constant training classes going on for new recruits... my class had 43 in the beginning and now there are 5 left just after 9 months so they have to recruit new people constantly. The start pay is just $11.45 and then after training it increases to $12.50/hr + some minor commissions (which can add up on average to about $400-600 per mth). They encourage you to work more than 8 hour days and they deduct pay for going to the washroom...taking 5 min to go speak with someone and they DO NOT PAY YOU FOR THEIR MANDATORY 15 MINUTE BREAKS!!!

They blame their client(s) for everything... your hours...your pay (even though they keep over 1/2 for themselves).

Most people who work as agents are either new people to Canada or mature people who have a hard time finding a job. 

Why did I leave? I moved to Guelph and driving for 90+ minutes twice a day became too much for me.

Well I liked this job, I worked in a finance area, very high security. There was a lot of restrictions for the office which made things more annoying but livable. The staff was pretty cool and I got to meet and talk to a lot of cool people. The management was awesome, fun and helpful, very understanding. This was a call center so once you find your flow it was a lot easier than when you first arrive, it does build your confidence but I did find the products we were upselling to be completely a scam and I felt sick about being SO good at what I did.... Overall its a great place to work and long term you could really move your way up to better paying positions. They were awesome about taking time off and giving weekends off.

A typical day at Gemma communications would be mostly receiving inbound calls from clients about information on their phone plans and addressing any issues they have with the service,while providing great customer service dealing with any discrepancies.I learned there is only one thing only is to let go of any hard feelings and continue doing your job professionally at all times because of the a volume of irritated customers.Management was really helpful when it came to questions and if any workers had any issues , team management was really knowledgeable. I would say the hardest part of the job was addressing issues in a timely fashion when it came to high call volumes and for me I loved the constant problem solving because each call was a new challenge .

A very cliquey environment with a poor selection of team leaders. Instead of constructive feedback, they preferred to make snide and often inappropriate remarks. Very dated equipment and furniture made it an uncomfortable place to work and the training was substandard for the job. Sales, sales, sales. If you cannot hard sell useless products to people who clearly have no intention of taking it, then I highly recommend not working here. They also have not heard of a personal life. They change the schedule on a weekly basis, and you could be working anything from 8am - Midnight, 7 days a week. Was usually 40 hours a week, but you could not plan your personal schedule more than a week in advance, because the schedule would change.

Don't know where to begin. This place is absolutely terrible. I lasted 7 months i don't know how people last more than 3 years. The co-workers are nice and friendly, but the Team Leaders on the rogers floor are clueless. Management is mismanaged. There is no communication between middle management and upper management. 
People get fired and hired all the time. In my time at Gemma i seen TL's get fried and hired, Production Managers get fired even the Chief operator of Gemma left the job. 
And oh yeah, if you dont make sales you wont LAST. be prepared to be hounded for sales but stupid TL's who don't even know how to use the systems. Get ready to be underpaid and over worked. If you are looking for a dead end job to get by this is the job for you.

Typical day was selling people Rogers products on the phone. 
I learned how to sell to people and how they like to be worked with. 
The managers were as diverse as anywhere else, there were quite a few and some were good and some lacked people skills.
Hardest part of the job was balancing your energy throughout the day to work with people because a lot of the time the volume of customers spoken and the needs of each call could take a lot of energy. Also enduring the work environment which lacked proffessionalism and good work ethic on almost every level of the business.
The best part of the job was learning sales skills, meeting new people, and an opportunity to make good commission.

The team leaders are very friendly and make the environment fun and motivating. they help the agents with daily incentives such as gift certificates and game tickets. 

I am currently learning to advance my skills in customer service and soft selling. This is a great place to learn while getting one on one coaching with the team leaders and making your niche at gemma communications.

I believe the hardest part of the job is to convince the re-issued cardholders the product is beneficial for the protection of their credit balance.

I would definitely recommend prospects to pursue this opportunity at Gemma communications.

Typical day in walking in to work, signing and opening your systems and getting ready for call, that first call always determines how the rest of the day will be and what you need to change to better the day.

I learned multi tasking alot, being able to type as you talk efficiently and time management

My co workers are diverse, you get to learn about different cultures and backgrounds and there is always that one co worker that makes you want to better your self as a worker and a person

Hardest is trying all you can but have not resolved an issue for the customer.

Enjoyable part is being busy, once the calls keep coming in and making someone's life better.
