Style of Leadership:
The ownership team has high but fair expectations of staff. They want employees do their jobs professionally with very little micromanagement — they believe in their employees’ abilities and give them the autonomy to perform to their full potential. At the same time, guidance and support is available as needed, which makes for a work environment that feels well balanced. In addition, I’ve always felt heard when putting forward my own personal ideas to improve procedures and policies.

Corporate Culture:
Working here genuinely feels like being part of a tightknit family, rather than a group of individual employees. There is friendship and communication between all departments, everyone pitches into help each other out as needed and collaboration comes naturally. The owners take the time to connect with all staff and make you feel valued as a person, not just an employee. It’s a workplace where I feel appreciated and motivated to contribute. Ownership also puts in a significant effort to organize functions for the staff. Dinners together, karaoke, bowling, Christmas parties and many other events that give the staff a chance to connect with each other outside of working hours. 

Compensation and Growth:
The pay is extremely fair and reflects the effort and responsibility of the job. Opportunities to grow within the company are encouraged, and hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. The company recognizes and rewards dedication, which makes it easy to want to stay long-term. When speaking to the compensation models by department compared to the almost dozen other breweries I have worked at, Gladstone pays well above industry standard for all positions.

Overall Experience:
After more than two years with the company, I can confidently say it’s the best brewery I have worked at. The people, the culture, and the compensation all combine to make it an outstanding place of employment. Whether you have no experience in the beer world or are a seasoned industry vet, I would encourage anyone who is looking to work in the beer industry to consider a position at Gladstone Brewing. 

In my time here I was repeatedly put in uncomfortable situations, gaslit, and belittled to the point where I would question my own skills and abilities in a way I had never before. It destroyed my self-esteem. The owners seem to manipulate staff into doubting their own feelings and use fear to control staff who see a different way to do things, even if it would be beneficial to the company. They have no regard for anyone's previous experience or expertise. It feels like their model is to take advantage of people in their early excitement for the job, until they burn out and quit. There is no opportunity for advancement.

Ownership is incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate. They have no confidentiality, trust, boundaries, emotional self-management or respect for their employees. The fact that they ask for a Myers-Briggs personality test in their job postings should be a giant red flag. To make real improvements, they need to hire an HR professional.

The beer and location is great, so I know the business will always succeed, but I don't recommend working here unless it is a stop-gap on your way to something else. There's always a position available!

The most enjoyable part of this job was commiserating with fellow disgruntled employees. I'll be forever bonded with my former colleagues through the shared experience that only those who have come through it can understand.

Gladstone is the most fun place I have ever worked, and the pay is great! 

All the people are amazing, from customers to colleagues to management and ownership. Everyone internally really cares about each other and the organization. I've never worked anywhere quite like it. 

Ownership really cares, about the staff. They are always doing things to make our day better and our life better. The owner drove me to a doctor's appointment once because I don' t have  a car. They take staff down to Victoria for beer festivals every year, and they even take some staff to the states for a conference annually. Talk about perks. 

They also recently put in a pension program for management. A PENSION! It feels like only government does that these days. They also have a health plan. Ownership really takes care of their employees. 

Even when we are working so so hard, it's fun. Everyone is in it together. 

Incredibly unprofessional and pompous owners to work with.

Tip pool payouts and bonus programs were changed without communication to employees. Many long-term employees have been pushed out without the required severance pay provided to them.

Opportunity for growth within the company is only when ownership knows you’ll bend over for them, do exactly as they say, and don’t overstay your welcome.

Myself and previous managers put in effort to protect and make a better work environment for employees, but without ownership loosening their control on every department in the company, they’ll keep driving away employees.

Ownership is kind and smart. They make great decisions for the team and that's why the place is so successful. 
I find the environment empowering. I really love doing my best here. 

I've been working at Gladstone for 2 years and I want to stay. 

They are fair and generous. Leadership is always building you up, and when they have to give constructive feedback they do so in a fair way. 

It feels like a family. The bosses are always making things better. 

I just love it! 

I worked for this company for 18 months and found it to be a very frustrating environment. There really is great potential : the location, food and beer is great. The management and owners, not so much.  There was little job security as many were let-go or moved into new positions then let-go with little to no warning. I really would reconsider if wanting to apply and take into account the unbelievably high turn-over rate with front of house. 

At Gladstone the team truly feels like a family. Everyone works together for a common goal. I feel so supported and encouraged.

People who aren't this way aren't a fit and don't do well. If you aren't ready to work hard for a common goal, it might not be for you. Everyone who stays thrives and totally loves it. 

They are young and do things differently than other businesses. It's so cool. 

I just love working here. Ownership is amazing. 

Gladstone Brewing have a family vibe kind of working environment where everyone support and help each others to complete all daily task as well as projects. 
It doesn’t feel like a 9 to 5 job.  The manager and owner are very respectful and will accommodate their employees when needed.
All around it’s one of the best place I’ve work for at in a long time.



Energetic and friendly teammates work in a large patio bar in the town centre, where the owners expect a lot and give even more. It's always busy, but the patrons are jovial, and the atmosphere is spirited. I worked hard and fast, the owners were generous, and the tips were great -  in a friendly crowd every day. When I return to the Valey, it'll be my first and only stop to work.  

Shifts were exciting in a "never know who'll come through that door" kind of way. Some nights were extremely busy and flew by while pouring beers and running food, most customers were fun to see. Other times when it wad slow would drag but what can be done.
