I started working at GFD around October 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, having no prior work experience, but despite that, I was still given an interview. I am so grateful for receiving the opportunity to work at GFD as I have gained a lot of customer service experience and managerial guidance during my time here. To make things better, I’ve made a lot of close friends at GFD and from the start, the atmosphere has always felt warm and welcoming. Being consistently motivated by my team leaders, made me want to achieve my full potential, and opened up lots of new opportunities for me. I started as a donor experience representative, and I am now a shift leader who has the privilege to lead our team during the weekends. I had the honor to go to the field exchange program to get a behind the scenes glimpse of the phenomenal work that our amazing fundraisers do on a daily basis.  Being a hive employee has its perks as well; we often have a lot of social events, full of food, fun and activities! I would definitely recommend GFD to anyone who wishes to join, as we have a lot of internal growing opportunities as well! :D 

This review is from my time I worked at Global Faces Direct as a TPV Agent ( A call-centre representative).

    When you start at GFD you are brought in by a lot of promises and good work opportunity... unfortunately that’s not true. I worked with six people whom upon-Interview there were promised $1.50 more then the $14 they ended up with, 
just minimum wage. 
     
    The HR and Management is never around since they are “on the same team” In the sense that the employees have no one to turn too when they feel mistreated. The management has been lowering pay since they decided to take away paid Lunches.
The management uses a lot of military style management. management likes to keep the employees under pressure since everyone I worked with was in fear of getting fired. The employees lost their work ethic because the management does not care about looking after the employees.

There are No chances to move up in the company, No chance of extra hours, No chance of a bonus and No chance of a raise!

Company is built by taking advantage of students/less experienced employees. Not employees, they are hired as IC’s (independent contractor). They pay you a flat $300 a week, plus bonus on top depending on the “deals” you write. It is all done through door to door, rain or shine. Top office managers make 3-5K+ a week, while the fundraisers that actually go door to door sometimes only take home $300 a week. 

Overall, I did well here but think that the company needs to do better in terms of fixing the compensation structure for the entry level reps, and figure out a way to support their managers instead of having a dog eat dog mentality and letting others swoop in. 

I learned how to sell here and I was constantly recognized for my performance. Its rare that you see a genuine commitment from leadership to help people grow like this. 

The causes we fundraise for are terrific and we regularly take time to discuss the impact of our work. 

This is the place to build skills for a career in sales, you will learn so much. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The feeling of becoming part of a legit organization

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Harassing old people and having to push until they get really upset with you 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
As with every other sales job, depending on the campaign, it can be very stressful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12-20 conversations per hour if you talk fast, you could handle 200+ calls a day in total most go to VM

Cliquish and backbiting culture.   Felt disrespected when you just were trying to do your job.

Privacy at times was nil if you shared a concern with management- whether it be about training, or needing personal leave.  You found your information shared with the intention of disrespecting you on the floor.

The "in" group seemed to think they were entitled to do anything.  Any reasonable disagreement with the behavior was met with retaliation, and backstabbing.



Amazing place to work at.
Learned a whole host of sales skills, such as tonality, objection handling, various closing styles and much, much more.
Workplace culture is phenomenal. The team is super close knit and everyone is friends with everyone.
Hardest part of the job is leaving to go home at the end of the day.
Most enjoyable part is boardroom, where we get together at the start of the day and practice our pitches and go over various scenarios we may face at the door.

It's rare to find a work culture that is this innovative and fast paced. If you are a builder or a fixer, you will love it here. 
The company develops talent and promotes from within wherever possible. The number of stories of people who started in an entry level role right out of university and ended up in leadership positions is very inspiring and I have seen it first hand. 
The pressure is real, and the work is tough. This is not a place for the faint hearted but driven people are guaranteed to succeed. 

The job is not always easy as they require to ask donors for their credit card information over the phone. If the donors are not interested in monthly giving or for security reasons, the company asks to almost coerce the donors into donating monthly and giving their payment information. Otherwise the colleagues are great and the call volume decreased so the work load isn't unbearable.

Perhaps one of the greatest places i’ve worked! there’s many growth opportunities, if you work hard and be able to grow within the role and move to Management role!

They also have a Social Committee that do events on a monthly basis and it’s a great way to bond with coworkers and management!
