Working here one will provide leadership, strategic planning, and direction related to capital planning and delivery, project management, and office space, parking and correctional challenges
•	Analyze, and recommend on complex financial components of the branch, to facilitate executive sound decision making 
•	Manage a large capital and accommodations budget
•	Facilitate, create and implement the vision, strategic plans, processes, and procedures to remove non-value adding practices and to facilitate planning and operations more effective to achieve high savings
•	Develop facilities management and operational standards, governing policies, organizational procedures, and revise financing and data to facilitate decision making
•	Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on capital and accommodations challenges 
•	Support the executive management decision making and offer leadership to staff 
•	Review proposals, prioritize projects and spending for the Ministry’s six hundred facilities, annual budget spending up to $50mil
•	Analyze facilities and systems performance inspections, research deficiencies and offer economic and strategic optimization solutions
•	Revise and prioritize deferred maintenance projects and make informed decisions by reviewing facility FCIs, condition assessments, element studies and setting up a system of prioritizing by introducing priority, criticality, equipment conditions, construction year and life expectancy, impact on FCI, public safety and site inspection findings 
•	Apply change management to influence and to implement changes that increase effectiveness and efficiency in the organization
•	Create and support asset management programs to appropriately care for existing assets and facilities
•	Perform facilities planning and design, construction and project management including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, instrumentation/controls and civil construction scopes
•	Set, develop, and achieve strategic priorities with a team of internal and external partners
•	Collaborate and achieve consensus and support for initiatives ensuring key relationships are formed and fostered along the way
•	Lead a professional and dedicated team while ensuring Branch activities are integrated and aligned
•	Work within the government financial management processes, including forecasting of expenditures and development of budget proposals
•	Foster a culture of continuous improvement to exceed expectations
•	Provide excellent customer-focused services while advancing the Ministry’s goals to ensure a corporate and cost-effective environment for the occupants to function
•	Research and implement best practices in occupational health and safety and the conservation of energy and water, recycling, and other facility-related sustainability efforts
•	Facilitate branches to effectively delivery the wide variety of programs that are offered by the Ministries 
•	Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to provide functional and technical expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives

Forest service is just under 100 people in total for the whole province with most staff found in Prince Albert. The other Forest Service postings are in small towns.
SK forestry regulation is light compared to other provinces. Senior managers mean well and believe in sustainable forestry, but often get caught up in the economic realities. They are unable or unwilling at times to hold the licensee fully accountable and tend to push only weakly for improvements from the licensee. This frustrates some ministry employees, especially younger employees. For those who push from below as they can face the "lets becareful and move slowly" conservatiism.

Conversely, unlike larger ministries in other provinces who have numerous internal rules and policy, there is very little at the Forest Service and they just dropped their ISO 14001 EMS after 8 years. . Individuals in Saskatchewan Forest Service generally have a lot of freedom to make their own decisions and can directly influence the development of forestry policy and how it will be implemented.

Other nice thing is all FS staff are on a first names from the Executive director down, Any FS staff can talk directly to each other - there isn’t sub-dept barriers. But just like any place some managers are better than other.

For the field inspectors and Area Forester, the small operators (less than 5,000m annualy) take up a great deal of time, They are part time winter loggers,with limited skills and knowledge..

Forest Ecosystem Protection Specialist = timber harvest inspectors who also get to do full C&E work

•As a member of the Executive Directors office and of the executive management team, I am responsible for the coordination of the corporate agenda; follow up on decisions taken to ensure implementation, and where implementation issues occur, to recommend appropriate action for resolution.
•Supervise two front line staff, ensuring appropriate coverage, delegation of tasks to maintain productivity.
•Creation and maintenance of a manual for the role of Occupational Health and Safety Executive Coordinator of the Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Ministry.

-As a maintenance worker you drive from one side of candle lake to the other by government vehicles. You clean all out houses and bathrooms in each camp and continue throughout all of candle lake. Your morning usually consists of cleaning all washrooms. After lunch you will clean either Sandy Bays shower house or Mino's shower house. 
-I learned how to work alone and manage my own duties. On most days I was my own boss and no one was there to keep an eye on me so its really honestly up to you to get your work done but don't think that's an easy way to not get caught doing nothing because campers will complain if the bathrooms aren't cleaned. 
-Co-workers were very good, everyone is so helpful and nice. The only downside is dealing with upset campers, not gonna lie.
-Hardest part of this job is learning to stomach gross stuff. Like feces covered washrooms and I mean it gets EVERYWHERE. 
-The most enjoyable part of the job is getting thanked personally by campers who truly understand the amount of work it takes to keep the parks going and nice and clean.

I was super excited to join the public sector after years in the private sector. It may seem like a pay-cut initially based on salary, but the government offers numerous perks. Great health/dental benefits with 100% employer paid premiums, a pension (you must participate in at 5%, govt puts in 8.6%), and basic working hours with decent vacation/sick/other leave benefits. 

Work can be slow, as being a part of the government, projects aren't completed by one person/team, and projects change hands numerous times throughout project lifetime. This can cause issues with differing opinions on various teams. You definitely get the political influence in decision making that you wouldn't see in the private sector. Wages are okay, but a lot lower compared to private. But that's the balance when you work typical Mon-Fri office hours and not overtime each and every day. Overall I have enjoyed my time at the govt and hope to be here long term!

During my employment, I am responsible for a number of duties including handling all complaints related to immigrants, employers, foreign worker recruiters and immigration consultants - where mistreatment under The Foreign Worker Recruitment and Immigration Services Act or fraud or misrepresentation has been reported or suspected.

My experience is not limited to just doing everyday run of the mill tasks that are part of handling complaints; I have the opportunity to plan and organize multiple, complex tasks and projects taking into consideration conflicting and changing priorities to meet strict and/or changing deadlines; Ability to develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and resolve problems.

Working as Campground Maintenance at Nemeiben Lake Campground was the most relaxing, enjoyable and beautiful job I have ever had. The location is gorgeous, and if you are lucky like I was, you will be able to stay in the cabin on the lake in the campground. It is nothing fancy but has more than the essentials and it's hard to beat a cabin by yourself on the lake.

The coworkers are an absolute dream. They are friendly, happy, hard working and a pleasure to be around. One of the best teams. Management is involved and is a good blend of young and not young. They are personable, approachable and realistic.

This job would be ideally suited for someone who loves the outdoors, doesn't mind working hard to ensure the campground(s) are adequate, likes talking to people but also enjoys time by themselves, has or wants to enhance their time management and organizational skills.

Managing up to 29 people which in itself is fraught with challenges and issues however also the ability to work with and mentor people was satisfying.

Working with and mentoring people, watching them grow as individuals, identifying individuals personal skills and challenging them.

8-5 weekdays with every 2nd Friday off.  Hardest part of job is existing and getting through through the workday in work environment  that is toxic, individual responsibility to follow government policies (Respect in the Workplace, Harassment, Scent Free, etc.) are not followed resulting in continuous decline of health and wellbeing of staff - negative office cliques has a high presence.  The most enjoyable part of the day is when I leave the work environment and have an E.D.O. so I am gone for a 3 day weekend and away from the office cliques.  Absolutely not an enjoyable place to be and takes a lot of mental self talk to go to work.  But bills need to be paid.  Benefit is the pay cheque, benefits and pension.
