Ground Effects

Typical work is more difficult than it actually has to be.  The management will openly complain about the staff - even though they provide you with broken tools, zero training and and no advancement opportunities.  
As a result there was no safety culture at all, so I found it was important to be hyper-aware, as you have to look after yourself in an extremely unsafe environment.  This is due to faulty equipment, heavy machines/vehicles being used by untrained people, no regard for covering the workplace with water/ice/snow or any other hazards that increase danger for workers.
The hardest part of the job is schedules.  One day they told the whole workplace on a Tuesday at lunch to go home and come back next Monday - so I got to enjoy being not paid for a week!  Other weeks they force you to do mandatory overtime on Saturdays and there will never be time off available when you need it.  
Obviously with that type of toxic workplace, there is constant turnover and churn!  Clearly, this place is trying to save a few pennies by not training, or keeping any of their workers, and they provide the bare minimum comforts that are legally allowed.  They have to use anonymous agencies because their reputation is awful.

Multiple people didn't even come back after their first day - that pretty much says it all.

A mostly very dramatic and unprofessional atmosphere. Half-truths are treated as truth according to HR so tattling on others (among other monkey business) is encouraged which can easily turn coworkers against each other. Promotion is not very feasible (stinks of favoritism) and the pay is too low for the job. The benefits are subpar. You get only 2 breaks (is that even legal?). The plant I worked at (7) is now for up sale by them. It seems they failed to improve it for the better. I wonder if greed or corporate mismanagement had something to do with that? The CEO gives so much money to charity, but can't pay the employees a LIVING wage and better benefits. They were begging for a union BIG TIME.

They claim to be a company with internal growth, based on an employees dedication and willingness to grow, but they simply use their employees and when done, toss them aside. It's all about favoritism and not merit with senior management. Dealing with HR was a nightmare. All they cared about was protecting the useless/addict employees in order to protect themselves form The Ministry of Labor, at the expensive of the dedicated employees, who believed in GFX and wanted to be part of their success.

If you need a job simply for monetary reasons, go for it. But GFX is NOT a long term company to work for. 

Worked at a plant in Whitby ON.  Well managed.  Good plant manager there.  Firm and fair.  Worked well with the employees.  Good supervisor as well.  Worked there for 6 years.  Nothing but positives at that location.  Relocated and moved to work at the Bolton plant.  Very different vibe there.  Not managed well at all.  The first manager was not engaged enough.  Did not see like he wanted to be there.  Second manager was a terrible person.  Very selfish, and not trustworthy at all.  Did not treat people well.  Spent 3 years at this location.  Did not enjoy my time there.

I worked at the plant in Kingsville, I loved my job, whole heartedly, I never got into trouble and I always showed up on time, and took my breaks accordingly. I was seemingly liked until one day I received a phone call that my assignment had been completed. The reason is still unknown. I’ve heard a few different things, but nothing adds up. I was, and still am very upset. The people are nice, for the most part. 
If you want to work, enjoy your job, get comfortable and then get tossed out with no warning, no communication for whatever issue there is or may be, or get your hopes up just to have them fall, sure, work here.

They will let you go as fast as they hired you even if you show up everyday work all the over time bust your butt to improve yourself everyday even show willingness to continue learning. My coworkers would tell me don’t be so hard on yourself you’re doing great and only been here short time. But apparently the company didn’t think so they just let me go because “”I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t catching on fast enough, holding up production.”” A month there and I was already able to do 2 different jobs and always put 110% into progressing. Actually liked working there but your jobs never safe there. Be warned!!!! 

Horrible work environment. Favoritism, nepotism at its finest. The company allows its management to harass and interrogate employees they don't like until they quit. Management fabricates reasons to fire employees, and then refuses to allow employees,access to their own personnel files. Most people in management lack education, proper training, communication skills and mediation skills.  Preferential treatment is quite evident and abundant. Embarrassing that such practices are still in place and endorsed in 2022.

working there was the worst experiences of my life the work its self was very slow and repetitive and the average temperature in the plant normally sat around 40 to 50 degrees, the co-workers them selves were friendly and great people to work with but the management staff was overly demanding and inconsiderate to the workers and often looked over their well being and just to add insult to injury the job only payed a little above minimum wage.

Not what they say ,it is !  At first seem too care but it's really all a front ! After working there 10months ,couldn 't do it any more. Was dock 6times without explaining ,try too but was laughted at . I quit and they didn't even care as too why ?? Was always there early and last too leave but that doesn't mean anything to the place . Worked every time they would asked but that too wsa worth nothing ,they just care about themselves. Oh well ,there lost ,certainly not mine😉

GFX is stuck in the 1950's with many things being done manually.  Management has been there for 20+ years & run the company the same way.
There is no accountability or fear of reprimanded so the job is easy.  To many people though as all related or friends with someone and as such they are "protected".  Pay is ok but you can make much more if you look around.
GFX does too many things manually and as such other companies will eventually take it over or we will lose the business we have as we can't make parts in time or with any quality.
