MIS is a great job for EXPERIENCED swimming instructors. Given the few available trainings, and minimal administrative and technical support from management, this job is not suited for beginner/inexperienced swimming instructors. 
The best part of the job is being in charge of your own schedule, independence, and the relationships built with clients and co-workers. Again, an advantage for experienced instructors.
The worst part of the job is, by far, the management team and supervision at the numerous locations in which MIS offers swimming lessons. The management team does not provide adequate support to their instructors, which places the inexperienced swim instructors at a disadvantageous position to be taken advantage of by persistent clients. 
As management prioritizes business over client/instructor satisfaction, I was often a first-hand witness to my loyal clients being turned away in favour of new clients. 
As for supervision, MIS hosts swimming lessons at many locations but do not have anyone "in charge" at any of those locations. This is an advantage for experienced swimming instructors because, more often than not, they are responsible enough to manage their independence. For less experienced swimming instructors, however, the lack of management means that quality swimming lessons are not always being taught, usually, because the inexperienced instructors are not being made aware of the mistakes they are making and what corrections to make to increase the quality of their lessons. 
Moreover, I witnessed a situation in which an instructor did not show up for a shift and that person's clients were not notified. Given that there was no supervisor/manager on deck to handle the situation, other less-experienced instructors were persuaded by the unsatisfied clients to take them on. This meant that there were instructors who were pressured to teach small-group lessons, in order to satisfy the clients who's instructor did not show up, instead of teaching private/semi-private swimming lessons as MIS advertises. 
These are only a few of the many issues I experienced while working with MIS. I stayed for the clients but left for a better work environment and supportive management.

A great place to work, and offers a lot of flexibility for a part-time job. Plenty of learning and growing opportunities and it's easy to climb the pay-scale. It feels great to be able to teach young swimmers and watch their progression. Very rewarding and absolutely would recommend!
