Management calls it a Customer Care Centre (or Contact Centre) but make no mistake about it, it’s a Call Centre. A very fast paced stressful Call Centre where every part of your work day is micromanaged by your leader. 

Johnson is constantly hiring because of the huge amount of turnover. And things have got worse since Intact took over in 2021. 

The salary was average, but definitely not great. 2% pay raises are the norm. 

There was constant pressure for frontline staff to work faster, answer more calls, make more sales, not make any mistakes, etc. 

Working stat holidays is now expected (wasn’t like that with RSA). And if you want to stay ahead of things you will have to check your work emails during your lunch break. 

It doesn’t seem healthy for your body or mind to sit at a desk for 7-8 hours a day and always have to worry about going on a “Performance Improvement Plan” or having a quality breach and getting fired. 

If you want to get ahead you will have to volunteer for overtime and laugh at your managers jokes. 


I was on a 6-month contract, it was a pretty decent gig. Call centre environment. Coworkers are very supportive and team leaders are very nice and accommodating. In my experience, the company seems to care about employees. I definitely learned a lot about the insurance industry which is good information to have. The pay is not so great, but the benefits are good. Advancement beyond service agent is hard. The hardest part of the job is occasionally dealing with angry callers, just push through it lol. You could also be scheduled anywhere from 8am to 1030pm.

Management seemingly wants everyone to "do as they are told - no questions asked!", and as someone who likes to think outside the box, believes strongly in diversity/equity/inclusion/belonging, and wants to be able to ask questions without fear of repercussions, I find this place to be a very poor fit for me.

I loved working for Johnson Insurance, and I wouldn't have left if I wasn't offered a job in my field of study. There are many opportunities to grow, senior staff is very educated and wants the best for the employees they are supervising. training is extensive to insure you are prepared. There are team huddles every day to talk about changes or things to improve on, team outings every so often. The company will pay to bring treats for all staff. Overall a great experience and I do miss my coworkers from the short time I worked there.

The flexibility to work hybrid.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not enough training or resources to help ease of transition when on your own. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was online.  That part was good, however extremely stressful for the RIBO exam. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was a day job. 8am to 4pm.

What used to be a close knit community, where you were appreciated, treated like adults, and where customer service was personalized and mattered.... has become a micromanaged call centre. they don't care about turn over, compensating their staff or their clients experience. its sad to watch a local business be destroyed so fast after being bought out by a big corporation looking to monopolize the market.

I’m always proud to say that I work for Johnson. The job is intellectually challenging but can be equally as rewarding. Like any other public facing job, there will always be challenges, but you are consistently supported. Management has your back and is constantly willing to help you learn within reason. Salary and benefits are superb. 

A typical day at work was get to your desk, sign into all the systems that was needed. Check your emails, then make sure you were logged onto the phone queue as there were already phone calls waiting 90% of the time.

The hardest part of the job was leaving the wonderful team I got to work with. They made it very enjoyable to be a part of the team.

I worked from 8 to 4 and from the time i arrived until i left it was just busy busy busy

The deadlines were sometimes hard to meet but I always did
Just going to work everyday

I worked there for around 6-7 months, in the beginning, I was doing everyone's dirty work as management did not interfere. When there was a new supervisor everyone got upset with me not doing the work they did not want to do.
