The most enjoyable part of a job can also depend on individual preferences. It could be working on challenging projects, collaborating with inspiring colleagues, feeling a sense of purpose, or experiencing personal growth and development.

Loved this place when I first started and loved the people I worked with, it felt like a team because we were all going through all of the trials and tribulations of Covid together. I undoubtedly learned a lot in the time there. There are definitely a few supportive and encouraging Managers and Directors if you are lucky enough to work with them, they will make your experience better. The location is also very ideal, right off the highway, on a bus route and right by the water which made for easy access and great walks at lunch.

However. There is a serious lack of clarity in most roles, in expectations  of employees and in communication from upper management to employees. Most managers don't even know how much thier employees have on thier plate and what they have to do in a day, so they just try and guilt you into taking on more work outside of your role or into working more hrs. There is a also a serious issue with micromanaging what some employees do, so they hinder your ability to complete tasks efficiently or grow to your full potential. Result = high turnover

Management is the worst I have ever experienced.  The amount of resources and money wasted in this facility is beyond comprehension.  Almost zero culture for health and safety of the workers. Management in my department is clueless when it comes to treating people with dignity and respect.  They procrastinate, lie and elicit false hope for improvement on a daily basis.  Lower management are unqualified puppets who cower in fear of reprisals from their directors which makes for a culture of fear and loathing amongst their subordinates as each one pettily harasses one another to gain the favor of their superiors.  The hardest part of the job is not being able to do your job due to lack of resources and the lack of knowledgeable leadership.  Also the arrogance of some of the doctors and nurses who believe they are of more noble stock than the rest of us can be tiresome.  The most enjoyable part of the job is the ability to help the community while providing a service to the sick and weary in hopes that they all go home well at the end of their stay.

I had the pleasure to be in the presence of some dedicated community members, who collaborated to make a difference, for each of their clients.

It was the hope and query of success of this strategies and different approaches to help individuals experiencing different challenges and situations.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very respectable and focused at the same time  very humane to the care givers and staff.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is a new day an opportunity to make a difference knowing your colleagues would back your efforts and would be there for you.

My time at the Wellness House recreation therapy allowed me to see, first-hand, what active patient-care looks like. I started working immediately on the job and established my routine early on. Everyday offered up new experiences and teachings for me to grow as a person. I was exposed to recreation therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy allowing me to see a wide scope of patient care. I worked with the staff and patients to make it a positive and productive learning environment which catered to the needs of the elderly. Unforgettable experience to meet such wise people and I will surely take the lessons and advice I gained along the way.

In general the work is typical of a day in the life of a PSW. You need to be prepared to be sent off your unit to work; to know your scope of practice and adhere to it and advocate for your workload so as not to be taken advantage of. If you are professional, and like to work steadily throughout your shift with direct hands on care. Great place to be. 

I absolutely love my current job & current management. I have never felt so supported by management at any other department or place of work. 
Past departments haven’t been same although each place I worked was a new learning experience and has helped me further my career in the hospital. 
I would recommend this place to anyone, unfortunately management is hit or miss but what workplace isn’t?
I don’t mind the benefits either but have nothing to compare them too. 

Salary is less than other hospitals. High turnover both management and analyst level leading to remaining staff need to take on more tasks. They don't hire staff right away. 2 years was told a junior staff would be hired so this program I looked after is temporarily. If you are highly skilled look elsewhere because you will be called to do a lot of work while coworkers who doesn't have the skills can do less work because they don't know how to do it. They don't invest money into training. Only 200 dollars budget per person for training budget. What kind of training or conference under $200?

This hospital is severely mismanaged and when striving to advance and develop yourself professionally your efforts are not supported and you will be set up to fail. I have learned that I will not subject myself to unhealthy workplaces and when to recognize futility within a broken system. The workplace culture was historically good however, it is not taking a turn for the worst. The hardest part about the job is working with a management team that is not listening to the front line workers while placing us in situations to be disrespected, overworked and denied time off when required.

If you want to be treated badly and have no say in how you work then feel free to apply. The management in the OR is terrible and if they do not like you will hang you out to dry and have you fired before you realize what is happening. And forget about help from the union. The staff here if they like you in the OR are great but if they do not like you will make your life miserable and make you wish you worked somewhere else. 
In a nutshell this OR culture is exhausting and management is just as bad and HR is absolutely useless. 
Apply elsewhere and save yourself the headache
