I respect my employer tremendously.  He is a fair main and supports me.  Unfortunately I feel that the industry I am in is unrealistic with their expectations on how the moving industry works.I feel I am very good at what I do as i care about the clients needs.Working for two companies is challenging as the one that pays my salary is fair, supportive and will always defend me.  Unfortunately, the other company I am associated with has unreasonable expectations from their clients.  As mentioned,   I am very good at what I do and clients will support me on this but the moving industry is seasonal and service levels change. May to September makes our jobs much more challenging as this is the peak season while the remainder of the year, standards are much better.  These things are out of our control as we are the coordinators and cannot be there to oversee the entire relocation.  We do our best to inform clients as to what is needed such as documentation for cross border moves and what is expected on their part but a lot of the actual move is out of our control even though we educate the client.

This is a challenging job, I have been doing it for over 6 years now but I am looking for a change.  I love interacting with people and want to remain in a customer service oriented field as i feel this is where my strength is.

My employer is based out of Calgary AB.  I am their on site coordinator for eastern seaboard within Canada and Us so I an used to working independently with little supervision.

Hardest part of my job is to keep the service levels at what is expected, the best part is interacting with the client and families and knowing I am helping them make their experience less stressful as relocation is one of the most stressful things you can do.

A typical day at work would consist of me opening, ensuring drivers and crew received their paperwork, were in uniform and had the proper supplies to do their job that day. I also answered phones, checked for faxes, voice mails and emails. I would then take any new orders that had to go in the system for upcoming moves and start paperwork for the following day or week. Scheduling drivers and shipments to come in and out of the warehouse. Sometimes I would stay late and ensure that the shipment was either picked up or delivered.
I learned how to do the paperwork for the drivers. My last job was a paperless office so I didn't have to look after paperwork. I also learned a lot about Government rules and moves.
I had one boss in the office and the owners were at the main office in Montreal.
My co-workers were great I enjoy working with others.
The hardest part of my job would have to be hiring new crew members that could clear a criminal back check that actually wanted to work as a mover. Due to the physical labor of the job.
The most enjoyable part of my job were the day to day task confirming the start times with the clients and making them feel comfortable that their move will be successful.

Stressful, high paced work environment where management was not supportive whatsoever and often blamed employees for issues that they had no control over. Everything was about the bottom dollar, nothing about the customer service. Management expected employees to break Atlas policy and the law often (just about daily), we were expected to lie to customers to benefit the company (about money or services, about why something went wrong, etc.). Management also expected employees to find new prospected clients, drivers, crew/warehouse helpers, etc. despite these types of mandates having nothing to do with many of our jobs. Management was rarely around to do their job and when they could be bothered to be in the office, it was never to help with the issues we needed them for (ie. customer service issues that needed to be attended by management). Management also lied to employees often - promises were never kept, they would deny any knowledge of events despite email and paper documentation of their knowledge.

Management is the problem. The guy that runs the place is a busy body and spends most of his time gossiping, instead of bringing in business. He tries to turn employees against each other, and this creates a very uncomfortable work environment. Dispatch is like a revolving door, I highly doubt anyone last a year.
There are much better places to work. If you care about your mental health, look else where.

Toxic-abusive environment! Assault charges have been pressed- no accountability from administration.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic environment —worse place ever worked at— they hide what actually goes on inside—

Moving season can be difficult for the employees in the moving company ofices. I would make the contracts, estimates, phone calls, small claims, etc. Busy and often feel rushed - but I was able to do what was required to the best of my abilities and get it done ahead of time to relieve stress of other employees and clients.

Moving residential and commercial areas i.e. desks, beds, fridges etc. I learned to be patient and take my time to get the best results in the time provided. The best part of the job was the people and being able to work in various areas.

Long hours no overtime 5 to 6 days a week or they would starve your hours if you needed a day off also the pay is minimum wage. Also the management at the time would play around with your hours you have worked missing wages on a regular.

The work hours per day varied based of the amount of moves and the size each week. If you are good at what you do and are given the chance you can easily work 60 hours during a week in the summer. Good job for anyone in need of work and in decent physical shape.

Had a great experience and learn everything I know about moving through them I've done a lot of traveling and done domestic and international moving.id recommend anyone to work there
