What is the best part of working at the company?
Not a friendly environment. Staff not very helpful. HR not truthful

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not good training sessions.  Instructors not very knowledgeable.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very pretentious and much to woke. Anti Christian

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Boring, not very stimulating. Made for long days

Lawson is committed to building a collaborative culture and actively engaging employees. There are monthly social/themed events, and special events, organized throughout the year. Staff appreciation week in April this year blew me away. It is important to me to receive recognition beyond salary and benefits for giving my all each day to this firm. 2023 marks the 4th year that Lawson was recognized as one of the top 100 employers in BC and I am proud to work here. 

The work assignments are easily transmitted either via paper or email with support from the lawyers, other administrative support staff and IT personnel.  Assignments are usually completed in one or two evenings.

Too much consideration is given to lawyers' points of view and little to none to staff.  In the event a lawyer is unhappy, there is little to no recourse to be obtained.  In addition, the wait period for legitimate illness absences is way too long, days off are unpaid unless you have worked at the firm a minimum of 6 months

The people in the Calgary office are top notch.

Unfortunately, the Calgary office is often an afterthought or not considered at all when head office is making decisions,  allocating resources, or even sharing events/happening in the Calgary office at the quarterly town hall meetings.

As a result, frustration, and at times turnover is high.



Calgary branch had a kind HR lady but subservient to Vancouver Head Office and to Calgary lawyers to a fault which resulted in long delays.  Also, a bit too much micro=managing.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Co-workers are very friendly.  The hours are standard 8 hours.  They have a good precedent system.   

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Finding work to fill your day.   Also, they have 4 offices and management is in Vancouver.  Moral is low because of this.

Awesome place to work, very talented legal professionals in all areas and the support team are great as well. Culture is untouchable! Lot's of fun internal events for staff to network and get to know each other.

HR and supporting staff is horrible. Training is provided however, staff which trains is not helpful and act very immature and cannot ask questions. If you do; you are made to feel stupid and someone will complain to HR.

Lawson Lundell was a wonderful place to work.  Professional environment but lots of fun.  Work was steady and challenging.
