Do not work here. There is No job security, no wage security or guarantee you even get assignments. Internal management is always confused and overlaps people. Once you get an email to confirm an assignment, someone takes your assignment so it’s very competitive and doesn’t guarantee you even get a job for day. Before 2022 they used to pay $65 per hour, now they changed and pay only OPI jobs for $0.55 per minute. If you do the math you’re getting lower paid yet mcis gets more than $120 per hour from large companies such as Service Canada and governmental agencies. So technically it’s not worth it and doesn’t make any sense because you work as independent employee without benefit, security and without any guarantee of secure assignments.

I love working with them, the schedule, their professionalism and their respect with the interpreters and the opportunity to be outside getting to know and help other families.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When trying to set up many assignments on a day and the time frame doesn’t match for many assignments in a day.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company and staff are very friendly and polite, and they are always trying to help so the interpreter can have as much assignments as they can.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It is basically 2 assignments in a day, between medical health, legal or community services.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly and efficient staff,  excellent Interpretation  and professional development courses,  on time bi-weekly payments.  However outdated  information system, not intuitive nor user-friendly.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Except for their IT department and the IMO outdated booking system , MCIS is a great company to work at! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Exceptionally friendly, respectful and helpful

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Assignments are sent by text and email and you accept the job if you’re available. Useful reminders sent the day prior.

The culture there is very friendly and respectful to the freelancer like me. Sometimes, the due date is so close and if I don't check the email, due comes and is considered overdue. Keeping an eye on the PO (purchasing order) is very important for this job.

Whenever you have questions or trouble with the job, ask them by email. They are very helpful in advice on what we should do next.

The payments are also very good. We can make an invoice twice a month on the platform. The payments have been done accordingly without any mistakes.

I appreciate this job and their culture so much.

A typical workday was full of projects to process, deliver and assign. The workload was very heavy, with constantly tight deadlines, back-and-forth messages to answer immediately and an array of messages on the work group chat that needed to be read, processed, learn etc. The PM software was very complex and not a proper training was provided, especially when it was updated, creating caos for a few days. I learned a lot. 

I love this job as one has the free option and determination to select or reject an assignment based on one’s schedule. The assignments are easy to handle and manage and most of the clients either the agency requesting interpretation services or the individual / individuals are friendly people. Working with them is totally a fun.

Pretty much on your own, hybrid the most and people in the office are very nice, respect

Peaceful!, not much stressful or crazy!, works always in control

It is a rewarding job to help people from different background. 
Company provides good support for interpreters. 
Inquiries about work will be responded promptly. 
I feel being treated with respect in this company. Of course you would not earn sustantially but the satisfaction usually far exceeds the monetary reward.

I have been working with MCIS language solutions since Oct 2018 and I have found them to be very organized and professional. They trust their free lance interpreters and look after them. I’m really happy with them
