ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD

Depending on what department you work in your experience could be challenging and disappointing.

Though the OEB strives to serve the public it is rot with poor executive management who lack strategic thinking, real leadership and vision.

The people who work there are great and supportive. They have to be to cope with the dysfunctional environment created by the Human Resources department.  Who in short have no real people/human skills.

The work is challenging and can be rewarding if the executives can stop spinning the direction of the policy like a thousand times before it is actually completed.

My advice is to get in and get out.  A place to build your knowledge on energy but not a place to build your career.

The people and culture is amazing. Everyone is very helpful and polite. Everyday is a different day. All cases I've worked on are different and unique which makes for an interesting job. 

I've learned alot about the Electricity and Gas Industry as well as about licences and why utilities have to be licensed. I never knew about the Ontario Energy Board and why it operates. After working here, I've learned so much and am continuing to learn more and more each day. The Electricity and Gas industry is so diverse but very interesting.

Management is out of touch and typically poor at what they do but they 'upsell' the workplace morale. 
Very, very little chance for advancement (virtually zero) or development. 
Unfotunately, the pay and benefits have employees stay longer than they might otherwise, which often leads to a feeling of 'getting stuck.'

My position should be more of a supervisory position, I'm looking for more of a senior position and a challenge!

The OEB tends to over-promote itself, even though it is not accurate. Managers are typically way out of touch and, if not for reasonable pay, the staff turnover would be huge. 

Terrible management. An odd culture where folks hog jobs and don't move.  Heavily bureaucratic. Some executives have no work and only job is to review other peoples work. Consider OPG or Hydro One instead.  

It was the most enjoyable job, everyone treated me with great respect. I was so sorry when my contract came to an end.

 The organization is the ideal place for interns seeking a supportive and enriching experience. Staff members  are dedicated to their success, meaningful assignments, and a culture of collaboration,

I loved my time at OEB. The workplace had a great atmosphere as we all helped each other out when it was busy. 
Managers were great at training and helping when I needed it.

The ontario energy board was a friendly environment to work at. It a relax and family environment whichw as for me a perfect environment for a first job.
