The research and teaching environment is focused and strongly emphasized, yet the people are amazing. I can't say I felt any overbearing competition throughout my experience; all the competition with my fellow colleagues was in good nature and encouraging, rather than restrictive. The university is still growing so the labs may not offer the top notch level equipment but there is an excellent sense of responsibility and drive to do with what you have (also the gym and all the extra-curricular activities are a plus). It was amazing to make all sorts of projects and see how they grow as a result of student involvement. Supervising and teaching the students was excellent too; everyone is respectful, devoted, and curious, so it was exciting to help them on their way to success. Most of my experience for engineering comes from school, the projects, and the people that helped me either through teaching or acquiring knowledge themselves. I can't say that there were no challenges: sometimes working late was necessary, finding necessary equipment (sometimes second-hand), and competing things neatly could be difficult (primarily due to lack of some equipment, software, or immense qualifications that I did not have). Nonetheless, the experience was worthwhile because the management was to the point and supportive throughout.

Working at UOIT was a great experience! There were so many different aspects of forensic science that I used with every day. A typical day would be:
-get there early to set up for the morning lab (clean, set out equipment for all the students, make enough reagents for everybody etc).
-supervise labs and help students with any questions they have
-show students how certain lab equipment works (RT-PCR, ABI 3130, fingerprint development chamber)
-clean up lab and prepare for the afternoon group
-labs ranged from microscopy and pipetting to DNA extractions and processing evidence
-also participated in department meetings with the Dean of Science and helped run open houses and 4th year Honours thesis projects

I go to school everyday, where classes run from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm depending on the scheduling of the courses you are registered for. I gained the knowledge on the fundamentals of engineering, and project management, as well as various other soft skills. Other students at the university are easy to get along with, and are eager to help each other to pursue higher goals. The hardest part of going to this school is the 40 minute commute each morning, and occasionally the lack of study spaces. The most enjoyable part of attending this university is the student life and culture of the various people I have encountered throughout my education.

I have learned a lot about the safety requirements of an automobile as well as the amount of danger drivers and passengers are faced with when travelling. Safety in cars has improved a lot over the last decade, but there is still a lot of room for improvement to ensure the safety of our families and loved ones when travelling in a vehicle.
My co-workers have been excellent, very informative and are always willing to help when I require their assistance. The opportunity to interact with such intelligent people and learn from them is something   I hope to pass on.

I worked as an I.T. Service Desk Assistant for four years while I was a student at the University. I was responsible for maintaining inventory reports of student and faculty laptops and computer related supplies, verified information for accuracy on all shipping of IT product. I was also reasonable for various data entry tasks as well as inventory and reporting of received product with all backup documentation. This job had a great work life balance that was necessary for a student. My co-workers where amazing and helpful and made the work environment a great place to be in.  I have never felt more happier with a job. The only downside was that this was a contract student only position.  


Team member of “CuCl cycle-Hydrogen production” group and a strong analytical aptitude, problem solving, team working, think logically by working on generating coatings and analyzing corrosion of CuCl cycle materials,  developing hydrogen production, analyzing energy systems, auditing HSE procedures, Risk assessment and checking process engineering by software simulation (HYSYS, ASPEN). Creativity in changing the pot to the heating mantel for high temperature tests (500℃) with all controllers.

- Lots of toxic behaviours that are enabled
- Nepotism is high
- If you are of a specific gender, race, age and or relationship with management than you have more access and promotion
- Some management are unskilled and use their title and position to hide their incompetence.
- Great people that work there however they are frustrated with lack of growth, recognition and the oppressive tactics
- University has brought Oshawa a lot of opportunities and image management but leadership is weak, insecure, controlling and toxic.

On average, I would meet with my supervisor about once every other week where she would give me assignments, explain them to me and give me a deadline. These assignments include researching on specific health topics such as Air Pollution or Girls Sports Participation. I have also have the opportunity to great several research posters and presentations. Since I am working from home, I have been able to manage my own schedule and set my own hours. The hardest part of my job would be doing the research because it takes up quite a few hours. The most enjoyable part of my job would be that I can create my own schedule, especially considering I am still a full-time student.

The work environment could be described as high-stress at times, as being a teaching assistant involves marking a lot of papers/tests in a short amount of time. In this particular faculty, those in management roles were very understanding and collaborative. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was feeling supported in my initiatives/ideas, as well as talking directly to students who sought help from you. The most difficult part of the job was dealing with a lot of different personalities, but certainly NOT to a level that caused an overall negative experience. 
The benefits are great and there are opportunities to advance to other jobs at this workplace.

Great work life balance, there is always help if you need it. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I wouldn't say anything is stressful about the job but you do have deadlines and you need to manage your deadlines along with school work if you are concurrently enrolled in school.

Very supportive, very helpful and very engaging work.

Teaching Lessons, grading papers later in the day
