Typical day at work - you do everything in double because there is not enough people in the team or they are so junior. 

What you learned -  don't matter you do and get maximum score in the evaluations you will always receive and excuse for raises and promotions. If they do like like you will make your life miserable to try you quit or put you in probation to do not pay severance , even demote you.

Management - if you are really an incompetent and love micromanagement guy, hunt people, and is a yes sir ... that is your place to apply for a job. 

Workplace culture - CEO crazy for acquire more and more companies even if the company debt increase, because he can cut your RRSP match, reduce your salary, layoff very good people and make you double the double or the triple, and if you don't smile after that is an enemy.

The hardest part of the job - See the management doing everything upside down and the company sinking. Sooner who buy stocks will have a surprise. The company is imploding and losing excellent employees because of the administration, and HR is conniving with the situation laying and covering the administration.

The most enjoyable part of the job - See the management hitting heads and bent rules to try lay off people just because they are afraid you take their positions . Also they try to hire people senior employees paying junior salaries and convince you that your new backup colleague will decrease your load. Management convince you that you lost benefits and is not demoted. 

The company is no longer what it was, people are sad and stressed, talking in the corners "what happened with the wonderful company" , crazy for leave but without alternatives, VP cancelled work from home before the virus with a retrograde concept but was surrender by the virus.

The company is no longer a software builder is a company buyer that just want to buy small companies or competitors but do not take care of their own product. There is another segment that believe the company becomes to be a consultant firm, but the biggest trick is provide products with recursive errors to sell support that is the gold mine of the company for their own products and the acquired from others.

I can see why some people highly praise OT while someone else hated it, all depends on are you hired in core / real open text or one of the new acquisitions. I came from some kind of start up / incubator from a large bank, so the experience is almost de ja vu -- you will have a blast of joy if you are in one of the more successful business unit, while you might spent most of your 40 hours looking for a new gig if you keep stuck in the failure ones and rinse-clean-repeat. 
I am hired in one of the new acquisitions, and lucks out since my team and managers are nice and they have a good culture (carry over before OT days); product, legacy for sure, but still have potentials and the product team is willing to change, so all good.
I hope this will help new / future colleagues, set you expectation right -- OT is both a traditional company and a mid-life startup with success, and neither, so your mileage will vary -- make sure you got everything you want to know in your interview, culture or whatever matters to you. Compensation is market average, for sure not shopify / FANG / uber level, but good enough for me and hopefully you too.
One thing I raise an eye brow on is you are not illegible for internal transfer in your first 18 months -- 18 months is a long in this time and day in this industry, likely people will move on shorter than that.

I worked at OpenText and overall had a mixed but valuable experience. The company offers a strong reputation in the enterprise software space, which looks good on a resume and provides exposure to large-scale projects and well-known clients. The work environment is generally professional, and there are opportunities to learn about information management, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity solutions. Team members are often knowledgeable, and collaboration can be productive depending on the department.

However, the experience can vary significantly between teams. Some departments are well-organized with supportive managers, while others may struggle with communication and workload distribution. At times, there can be high expectations with tight deadlines, which can lead to stress, especially during major project deliveries or organizational changes. Like many large companies, processes can feel bureaucratic, and decision-making may take longer than expected.

Work-life balance is reasonable in some roles, but not consistent across the organization. Compensation and benefits are competitive, though not always the highest in the industry. Overall, OpenText is a good place to gain experience and build skills, but it’s important to have a clear understanding of the specific team and role before joining.

The company had happy people, the environment was funny, but year after year the scenario changed and in the last 2 years the worst arrived. Unreachable goal, people sad, several old and knowledgeable employees are just leaving because they are tired of the all management levels. But the company management doesn't care of lose the knowledge and people who built the pillars of the company. They are losing so many people that HR no longer ask why is the reason. Customer and Investors will fell sooner the shock of this when they will not be attended or the profits goes down. The company now is postponing the raises and delay evaluations to buy a new company with focus on cloud, but even cloud team cannot hold their senior technicians.  The number of people leaving now is superior of layoffs that now is aprox 80 to 90% of the cases. New employees fells alone since there is nobody to really help. Several extra benefits were cutoff.
CEO is no longer in the headquarter just stay in US having no view the destruction is happening in the main office.
In resume, less experienced people, double or triple of work for the remaining, customers upset and management playing the monkeys (no see, no talk, no listen).

OpenText is a very old traditional company that comes with all the drawbacks of a corporation that is stuck in the past. 

This is purely subjective as i'm sure there are lots of people who would enjoy the culture at OpenText. I will describe OpenText culture by virtue of what they are not, who am i and why it is a terrible fit.

I am active, love to travel, love trying new things, learning new things, new sports, talk about innovation taking place around the globe. Having fun in my book is doing awesome "stuff" with people who think like me.  

At OpenText i could not connect to a single person on basic human level in terms of interest, beliefs, things i care about. Conversations are dominated by discussion of tv shows (i don't watch tv) and variety of household routines. 

Work style is very deadline oriented at certain times in a year yet not results oriented. I felt like all i did was spin my wheels while i was there. Again, take this with a grain of salt because i am switching careers. It could be that this just wasn't for me...

Overall i was miserable there. I would like to emphasize that this might be due to bad fit to begin with.

Go there, get your experience and leave quickly.  Terrible place to work.  Terrible culture, management is horrible.  Cliques are part of the culture and if you are not part of one, you are an outsider and will find it hard to work there.   The company has a value as a great place to work but it took away any good benefits.  The semi-yearly reorg also causes a toxic culture.  The worst employees are not the ones who are let go. The ones who don’t have strong alliances to their managers are let go.   

The CEO is also the worst.  Self absorbed person who has no management skills whatsoever.   I5 doesn’t take a genius to reduce costs by reducing headcount.  Anyone can do that.  OT reports on revenue which obviously goes up as they acquire companies.   What they don’t report on is like for like numbers because those are declining rapidly.  

Since the new CEO came aboard this company is no longer what it used to be. There are always deadlines and new responsibilities thrown on your plate but there are only expectations and no proper compensation  nor promotion for all that extra work. Lack of human resources problem is being ignored for years now and all they do is hiring contractors instead of permanent employees. Finance team is a dead end, there is no opportunities to grow professionally, you will be most likely stuck in the same position for years unless you are the "chosen" one that will magically be promoted without doing anything.
Although there are still some great people there, it is a matter of time until those leave this company as well. Such a shame as this really was great place to work. Now is only corporate politics, favorizm and poor compensation.

Many of the large company cliches are active here. I would say managment cares up to about the Sr. Director level. Above that, the Executive class are out of touch and very narcissitic. On a typical day, it is a pleasant place to work, but at least 1-2 times a month the executives will make some decree as to how all personelle should be doing more and outline unreasonable objectives. I find this really stressful, but most of the long term staff seem to just laugh, make some jokes about it and go back to what they were doing before. OpenText is really made up of many smaller companies that were purchased. The executives from these smaller companies don't seem to have the depth to run a company of this magnatude. They are starting to pull in some outside experience, but it's far too slow.

Changing jobs in the midst of a pandemic was a potentially disastrous endeavor, but OpenText made it a good experience and has to be the most supportive company I have ever worked at. The on-boarding process was very well managed, I never felt like I was expected to "just know" everything; I was assigned a mentor to guide me through everything I needed to learn about the company, and even after a complete release cycle, my mentor continues to check in with me to ensure I feel confident in my role. Benefits are great, so far the culture feels very collaborative. OpenText is a company that adapts to change well from what I see. My role is permanently remote as the company has learned in recent years that people can be, and are productive from their home office.

I worked in finance for 3 years.  Most of the managers were completely incompentant and seemed to have one gotten those positions based on their ability to suck up rather than their skills.  Favouritism was rampant in finance.
This meant a lot of the hard working and skilled people would quit and they wouldn't be replaced rather their work was dumped on those that remained.  They also constantly acquired new companies which meant more and more work.
OpenText is a large multinational with the policies of a small company and the HR department is a joke.
The benefits and perks were good but the pay was a joke.  There is no connection between your performance and annual raise.  That is if you even get an annual raise as they have no policy around that.  You have to complain about your pay to get a raise.
