Majority of the people are extremely friendly and welcoming however there are a few individuals in positions of power who make the work environment extremely toxic.  The right sizing and shaping of the company have left most departments in a very understaffed and hence stressful state leading to extremely stressed out workers and a never ending mound of work to be completed.  The Company departments also lack basic planning skills to manage the work flow in a timely manner and as a result huge surges of work at times all competing for your attention and priority for completion.

Although the workload was quite high everybody seemed to work together in a team to accomplish goals together.  The  Hiring manager seemed to hire quality employees so the screening must have been Effective in choosing proper employees.

77 work week, 12 hour work day with 3-4 hours off for personal time. Then 7 days off, including fly time. alone in my position, when i'm on day's off there is one person doing the exact job. The after hours can be fun, lots of out door activities in the summer and a good social life in the winter. Gyms, games room, sewing room, art room, common dining room, private bedroom, common shower & toilets.

Management comes from France and it is expatriate for 4 years. AREVA is a state owned company. The company is in the process of radical restructuring.  You can get a good salary and health benefits, insurance, company matching RRSP contribution, other small incentives. A good company to start with and to get work experience, but you will need to move if you want to advance your career.

I really enjoy working in the Mill, I am a good mill operator, enjoy hands on work and I am very observant. I like the management aspect of working for Areva, each employee is given a fair chance to  enhance their skills and ability at the workplace.

Good people all around. Good company too

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
None, they don't rush you and steady and slow gets job done with no incidents. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fun and happy. Good  people around 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Different things to do every day.

Good place to spend 1-2 years. They spend the time to train their employees. The culture is horrible though. You won't make it far without being in the boys club. Not sexist by any means, but differences in personalities aren't exactly... celebrated.  

Get out after 1-2 years. There is very little mentoring, and you'll be wasting your time if they have shown no interest in investing in you by this point.

If you work in exploration, I suggest you find somewhere else. You work a lot of hours with not so competitive pay. Work/life balance is non existent when working in the field. Good office atmosphere. French management makes it tough for Canadians to move up and it's hard due to uranium prices being very low

Good and helpful colleges. Great workplace for the most part. The food is terrible at the moment and management seems keen to keep it that way. 
Management are doing their best to improve on employees development, paying for courses, exams, etc…
Above average for vacation time starting at 3 weeks of 11hr days plus accrued bank time. 

Record keeping through binders, Folders, Files of hard & soft copies of Documents and Drawings.
Worked on General Arrangement, Process flow diagrams, Mechanical Equipments & Piping drawings, Electrical Schematics, Inventory data base and related Architectural, Civil, Structural Plans, Elevations and Sections where revision was required
