I balance my time at work between teaching (preparing PPT and handouts, teaching in class, grading papers, etc.), answering students' questions about and giving them suggestions on study in China opportunities, and other work such as curriculum development and event organization.

I have learned multi-tasking skills, time management skills, and communication skills in an international environment. Actually the most enjoyable part of the work is to talk to people from different cultures and tell them about the Chinese culture.

I enjoy the busy work and I like teaching the students and working together with my colleagues. The students are smart and eager to learn; the colleagues are willing to help and share.

I have no difficulty doing this job. If I must think of anything hard, that maybe spending long hours in the office every day while most work can be done from home.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly and helpful staff and management. Opportunity to be creative. Pleasant environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Depending on the number of students, it could be the examinations, but normally it is a stress-free environment. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The staff and management are extremely friendly and provide opportunity for advancement and creativity.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Helping students with their study and assignments. Discussing students' progress and ways to improve or create new methods of presenting material. Marking assignments.

I loved Renison College, and would still be there if we hadn't moved here to Halifax! It was professional, yet cordial. I loved the corporate structure in the language institute, in that I knew exactly who to talk to for certain issues. As well, I always felt I could communicate with anybody at the College, including the Dean.

Working at this institution is overall a good experience. Pay is relatively low in comparison to other institutions in the area. Some managers need to be replaced. 

I worked here for co-op and it was overall one of my favourite roles. The community is amazing and you can tell people genuinely care about what they do. I always felt like my opinion was appreciated (even by upper management) in meetings.

I have the pleasure of working with some supportive and understanding people. While the work can be challenging at times, it makes a big difference to know you're part of a supportive and understanding team.

Great environment to work within a team while also developing as a person. Renison does not limit their employees and encourage them to fufill their potential.

Renison allows for people to get to know each other due to its small staff and faculty. I enjoy the freedom to be able to develop the curriculum I see as appropriate for my courses.

I was a don and it can be stressful but also very rewarding. The people there are great and always are willing to help! it can be stressful at times but also relaxing. there are high and low points of working as a don there

It was fun experience, but it was busy, and the team was somehow less organized. But everyone is friendly, and easy to talk, and the work is fun. Good experience.
