My co-op internship was an incredibly valuable experience that allowed me to develop both professional and personal skills. I gained hands-on exposure to real workplace responsibilities, which helped me apply concepts from the classroom to practical situations. The role also strengthened my communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities while giving me insight into how teams collaborate to achieve shared goals. Beyond skill development, I appreciated the supportive environment, mentorship, and opportunities to learn from experienced professionals. Overall, the internship provided meaningful growth and gave me a clearer sense of direction for my career. While my internship was overall a positive experience, there were a few challenges that I encountered. At times, I found myself wishing for more structured training or clearer guidance when starting new tasks, as it occasionally took extra time to fully understand expectations. In addition, some periods were slower than others, which limited opportunities to stay consistently engaged. That said, these challenges ultimately taught me how to be more proactive, ask better questions, and adapt to different situations—skills that will serve me well in future roles.
In conclusion, my co-op internship was an invaluable opportunity that allowed me to gain practical experience, expand my skill set, and build professional connections. What is the best part of working at the company?
Excellent leadership and community is at the core of this company. You are given the advice you need to succeed but not micro managed. Your success is based on the work you do and your commitment to learn and adapt to the ever changing world of transportation. Ultimately  a great place to be. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The industry is fast paced and the market is always changing so you need to learn to adapt quickly, however this comes with any role in transportation.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This workplace values its team members and is flexible. Your team feels like a family and people are willing to help one another out. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical day includes a diverse arrange of tasks and skills, including negotiation, tracking shipments, aiding in sales, supporting sales staff, and calling carriers.

I'm not usually a person who does reviews but there are some things that need to be said about Rome. 

First and foremost, for a rather small company, upper level management should be a lot more involved than they are. Checking-in over the phone or email is great but a face-to-face conversation would be nice every once and a while. 

Secondly, opportunities for advancement are always talked about but I have yet to see any action taken. I understand that business is business and sometimes, there just isn't anywhere to move within the company but I'd rather management just be upfront about that, as opposed to lying. 

Finally, I do want to applaud the company on its ability to foster a strong work/life balance and family-oriented teams. Although things may not always be great in all aspects of my job, I am always excited to come in everyday and work with my team.

I'll never forget my interview and being told that, as an Account Executive with Rome, "What you put into this is what you get out of it". Upon hearing this, I was honestly a little skeptical, as I felt like this may have been their way of telling me that I was going to be on my own after first day. However, HR was genuinely just being transparent, as this truly is a self-made Sales opportunity. Do the first 6 months suck? Yeah. Will other organizations start you with a higher base pay? Yeah. Is the transportation industry crazy? Yeah. Do you have to build something from nothing? Yeah. But what really matters is that you are rewarded for the effort you put in. There is uncapped commission and my earning potentials here are higher than anywhere else and for that reason, I'll never leave. 

The bottom line is: if you're dedicated and have a strong work ethic, Rome is right for you. However, if you're lazy, you should probably look elsewhere.

Rome Logistics Group has been a great place to start and grow my career in logistics sales. The leadership team is genuinely supportive, and the training program set me up for success early on. The company culture is collaborative, and there’s a strong sense of teamwork that makes even the busiest days enjoyable. There’s also plenty of opportunity to build your own book of business and take ownership of your customer relationships, which has been both rewarding and motivating.

I currently work at Rome Transportation as an Account Manager and have been fairly happy with my time here so far. 

Much like what I have read in the other reviews that have been posted here, I would definitely agree that my team operates like a small family and the emphasis on work/life balance is evident. 

However, although I have only been here for a short period of time, I am a little concerned about the opportunities for advancement within my office. Although I have personally seen fellow co-workers advance into other roles, I am not sure what is ahead for me. 

Overall, I am happy to call myself a Roman and excited for what the future holds.

This is a bottom-feeding 3pl. They expect you to have your phone hooked up 24/7 to email (but won't pay for any of it). They train to constantly lie to both the customer and the carrier. This is not a happy culture. It is full of people who don't know any better and think it's like this everywhere. It isn't. Large companies will help pay for your expenses and let you bill your time. This company will put you on a low salary, make you work obscenely long days, and dangle an imaginary carrot of some sort of bonus that never really pays out for the time you put in. They claim to have great work-life balance. Yeah, as long as your work IS your life. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. 

If you're going to work in the transportation/logistics industry, you will want it to be at Rome. After years of working at other trucking companies, coming to Rome was a breath of fresh air - gone are the days of showing up to feel like just a cog in the machine, everyone with that "not my problem/job" mentality. Rome has given me the opportunity to work with likeminded colleagues and a management team that genuinely cares about your success and wants you to do well. The potential for growth is truly unlimited and it's what you decide to make it. I would 100% recommend to a stranger and a friend. 

Was hired with the promise of a supportive team environment. I have found that is not 100% the case, it seems like the people who got promoted to managerial positions may not be qualified IMO. You are expected to work after hours if you need to and a healthy work life balance is not the expectation. I was hired with zero sales experience and expected to perform at above average rates according to the rest of the companies standards, because my team leader wants his team to be better. The training for someone with no sales experience was not great. I was really excited to try something new and have a high earning potential, but I think you really need to be someone who is extremely self motivated.
