The Broadview Hotel

The Broadview Hotel has a tendency to hire support with the promise of promotion to server/bartender, then regularly fails to follow through. Even after years of employment, they told me I was "too valuable as a support" to promote me.

The schedules for support will overwork you, and the tip pool means you are not fairly compensated.

The management team changes every few months, leading to a lot of insecurity around how things should be done, and does not help in terms of miscommunication.

Furthermore, training for new positions is minimal, with no health and safety, which explains its issues in hygiene across the building.

I loved the people I worked with but the manager was always flirting with the female staff. The whole time I worked there I received two breaks. I was traveling three hours to work and three hours back. The tip weren't great and we only able to receive weekly. The work was always fast paced. We dealt with a lot of weddings and private events. There was no discount on food. Weekends were extremely busy and crowded and I found it hard to work. Where they put the place to grab the orders made it hard when it was crowded because behind it was three tables. They didn't think about the staff when they built the restaurant. Overall I love the people I worked with but the place needs to improve their management.

Pay is competitive when comparing the company to industry averages.

Pitiful career advancement opportunities - Dead end job 
Supervisors are merely titles and do not do anything different from FDA.

Excessive bureaucracy - More managers than entry-level staff in certain departments which results in micromanagement coupled with unfair treatment.

Management is insensitive to signs of over work.

A lack of understanding and appreciation for hard work ethic.

Interview went well and was hired.
My first day of training was horrific. My trainer was rude and put me down the whole time, that the labour board took my complaint.
If you're trainer in housekeeping don't like you management will let you go.
It's clear that your trainer decides  to keep you on, not management.
The housekeeping staff treat the guests even worse buy talking about them when they are in there room, which the guests could hear them.
I have never had a more horrific experience in my life. Don't walk away, run as fast as you can. Nobody deserves to be treated like an animal.

There was nothing  good about working there the average manager last 3  months for a reason

The ownership and upper management are bad very toxic and self absorbed

Chaotic and toxic  they've gone through about 70 managers over the past 5 years

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Like trying to swim up a waterfall

If you are looking to move uo or be treated with respect, this isn't the place for to work. Upper management always says they want to promote within and but it never happened. They over work you and give you tasks out of your job description.

Hourly staff always treat middle management like garbage and use the union for everything!

Place can't keep middle management, always a new face every couple of months.

There are some really great people there, but there are a bunch that are just horrible.

Took this job without knowing much about the company, but it has been one of the best jobs I've ever had. There are some ups and downs, and the occasional annoyances, but as far as hospitality jobs go, the money is great if you're willing to work for it, the team is good with the exception of a few, and management is constantly trying to improve. Recommed for people willing to work.

I was hired last year and have seen so much turnover in the management. Last year Crescent took over the hotel.  Everyone was excited as we expected positive changes. However it actually went really downhill. They got rid of all old management and got inexperienced new team. The current GM and HR are lazy and don't care but cutting expenses by getting  cheap labor instead of generating buisness

No place for employees for lunchbteak. It seems doesn't care to employees. The housekeeping employees cannot stand up the attitude of the Manager. That is why ermployees gtadually leaving or quit. Too much given pressure to employees. Mean and rude.

Management ar so nice and understandable.Everyone smiling,If management are good enough hard work is worthless.every time we are Enjoying, customer happy and we are also happy.😊 very interesting things is Broadview under the union so all seniors get most priority.😊
