After three and a half years as an AE at Tipalti, it's been a solid but demanding experience. The positives are real—excellent direct managers who actually care about your success, a supportive sales team with good camaraderie, and a strong product that customers genuinely need. I've definitely grown my enterprise sales skills here.
The challenges center around company culture. While my immediate manager is great, Tipalti operates with a very top-heavy management style where decisions flow down from executives with limited field input. Quotas are aggressive (sometimes unrealistically so), and there's constant pressure to perform. Work-life balance suffers during tough quarters, and the rigid structure means less autonomy in how you work your territory.
Overall, it's a good place to build experience if you thrive under pressure and don't mind a structured environment. The product and immediate team dynamics are strong, but be prepared for an intense, high-quota culture. Great for learning and your resume, just make sure the pressure-cooker environment fits your work style before joining.

The funding is only just keeping the business alive. Staff had to be let go in order to stay afloat. When all the job can be done remotely, they force you to come in three times a week. Sales vice presidents frequently lose top personnel and act solely on impulse. The corporation is unconcerned about employee retention because an SDR who is promoted to AE will make significantly less money than an outside candidate.

High paced environment, good for initial experience but not a long-term environment. Difficult to learn given the focus and emphasis on immediate success. 

Great company to work for as you are set up for success. The product is best in class and is constantly being improved in order to keep its competitive advantage.
