As I was advised Toshiba Business Solutions are fairly new in Western Canada.Any new candidate hired has the responsibility to identify sales opportunities through cold calling and leverage existing internal sources of sales leads for our full line of MFP (multi functional printer) products/ Creative and Production Colour Solutions in a specific geographic territory. 
Prepare and present sales proposals and conduct equipment demonstrations. Achieve and exceed sales target.

While I can concur with the hiring policy of Toshiba Business Solutions,but reject the notion of identifying sales opportunities through cold call and or leveraging existing internal sources. The resource tools were from Dun and Bradstreet dated from 2012. No up to date generating leads other than Dun and Bradstreet 2012.

Found that some 28% businesses were no longer in business, 20% were businesses like Tim Hortons, MacDonalds and small pantry grocery stores to try to sell them copiers.

Some 40% called had already set up and with leasing contracts with Xerox, Canon, Ricoh and HP Copiers and were not interested to change. Only 1.8 % were customer's of Toshiba Business Solutions, having a service contract but not willing to up grade due to money. Only 0.02% of the total of 2600 Dun and Bradstreet 2012 leads lead to an invitation and a proposal of which not one materilized into a sale. For what ever reason in the end they decided to buy a Canon, Ricoh other than Toshiba copiers.

There were some 34 proposals done by a previous employee early in the year. No one had the common sense to do a follow up if the proposal would lead to a sale. In all their great wisdom they had to hire a new employee to contact those past dated proposals. After a lapse period of four to five months management in all their great wisdom thought there some sale. Not one of the 34 proposal called were interested in Toshiba copiers.

I was bound to fail from the start, no decent leads available, out dated leads and an empathy against Toshiba copiers.
The reason is that Canon, Ricoh, Xerox cornered the marketin the Fraser Valley
From what my co-workers said that there is a high  rate of turn-over. ( I'm in that class).

On the other hand, training, seminars were provided of the first month. Co-workers and manager were helpful.

I would not reccomend this company to any salesperson. There is a high expectation of results ( sales) where there is none.

Most new employees perceive Toshiba as a large international Company with room for growth and career advancement. The reality is recent employees do not last since employees perceive that Toshiba is not living up to their end of the deal of providing career development and various benefits in exchange for the work they do, hence they’re less inclined to live up to theirs, often becoming disengaged, displaying passive aggressive behavior or letting work quality slip.

Employees who are there has been there for over 25 to 30 years, hence an ingrained culture and resistance to change and ideas from new blood. This is reflected in their corporate logo which has changed from " Toshiba - leading innovation" to just "Toshiba". 

The company has changed names at least three times in less than two years. So much for forward thinking.

If you are laid back, has no ambition, looking for just a job, pay and go home, Toshiba may be for you.

If you are looking for a challenging career, proper management, motivation and career advancement, this is not the company.

Shortest and worst work experience of my career, I immediately recognized the following
You are set unreasonable targets.
Products are behind in technology, compared to competitors but they compete on far lower prices
No confidentiality or autonomy in HR.
Company is basically own and directed by 1 person. Decisions (HR, Sales, Purchasing, IT, …) are all made by him - managers are in positions without any authority. All are micromanaged.
No room for improvement nor recognition for outputs.
Company is not opened to suggestions for improvement- “yes Sir” culture.
Bonuses and small salary increases are across the board and not performances based, hence if targets are met or not, everyone gets an increase hence no motivation nor rewards for excellence - failures are also rewarded.


Total joke. They are looking for a door to door teenage marketing boy to deliver brochures, not an actual salesman. The pay did not even cover my rent and food. Takes few years to build a client base. No training. Horrible management. No job security, no support. I got fired, without a notice, for having a mechanical problem with my car for a few days because of the flood in Aug( not my fault at all). No serious HR. I complained them once and nothing happend.
I am by the way very successful salesman with the highest closing rate and long successful track record in all my past companies and got immediately hired as a sales manager with alot higher salary two weeks after I got fired. So it all worked out pretty well!!

Performed EFT, Federal payroll deductions, wire transfers, cheque payments, and credit card reconciliations
•	Performed complex balance sheet reconciliations and prepared and entered correcting entries
•	Responsible for scanning all invoices and archiving all vendor voucher packages, including filing all cheques with the packages for auditing purposes according to established policies
•	Responsible to do yearly audits on vendor master data, determining if a vendor is still active or inactive, for the purpose of cleaning up the systems in Oracle Discoverer

Poor management, very old fashion

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor safety record, very cheap

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Trying to improve work environment without any success due to very poor HR and management

Management is terrible. Supervisor not supportive and does not share knowledge to keep his job. If you have problem in the field, he go by himself and fix it and never tell you what he did. Treats technicians badly, shouts on Technicians, and no speak to technicians for years. I can’t wait to leave.
Culture is bad and HR is useless. If you complain to HR, HR tells the supervisor and he treats you even worse.

A typical day includes managing accounts as a primary service engineer and performing service tasks as required.  The culture in the workplace is not great and there is a lack of recognition for hard work or team work.  The best part of the job is helping the customers who appreciate your effort

Payment is not bad.. But could be better!
