I worked there for several years in the summer student program and the after school program and It was all very poorly ran.  I made friends, and met a lot of great children there but I would not recommend working here. It was always a struggle to even find the boss to get things cleared up and she was very unreliable when it came to things that needed clearing up or even better snacks and food in general for the kids. She was never around and often took off with her husband during the day or just wouldn't leave her office to check If things were okay. She was very bad at planning exciting things for the kids to do, we did the same things with the kids for years and the kids knew that so a lot of the time kids wouldn't come because they were getting bored.

Store set up, building our own  custom shelves with cedar and beach wood with varnish coating.
Having coffee ready in the morning and doing cash floats.
Making sure everything on shelves are faced and keeping pop coolers stocked.
Taking cash and debit transactions, credit card transactions.
Cleaning around store maintaining cleanliness.
Sorting and counting bottles in   bottle depot.
doing cash out at end of the night and writing a report on my day at work.
I loved working at this store as it was very unique and the area was nice to work in as well.

A typical day at the summer camp was enjoyable. The community is welcoming and enthusiastic. Prior to the start of the camp the leaders would have the opportunities to gain valuable knowledge and experience through workshops and team building lessons. These certainly gave us the skills necessary for problem solving when needed throughout the summer. The management is solid as well as understanding and the co-workers are helpful and created great connections with the campers. The hardest part of the job would have to be the clean up and the most enjoyable part would be the outings and games with the campers.

People who like to work, and accomplish productivity are not appreciated, while if you sit at home, never answer your phone, and stay under the radar, you will stay employed because most likely your family is in C&C. If you care for people, this is not the job for you because the staff tends to lean toward looking like they working while getting paid to do nothing.  The new Manager for Public works is amazing. He is the only one who has worked, and keeps the staff busy in his department.

I learned a lot of skills, Organization, how to work with others. I was trained to manage staff and scheduling. Working with people on may different levels. Personally and professionally I have real life long friendships form my experience here. I am a people person and I love the interaction and I always willing to lend a helping hand when ever and where ever I can.

Tsawout band office is not the busiest office it has it moments. There are many activities going on, rental of rooms, training either to employees or clients that are from the employment training sector, and at times classes are being run from Education.

Tsawout is my home and I was honoured to work for my community! I was well supported and my team helped me reach my goals and allowed me to build a schedule that worked around my school hours 

Was a good place to work until politics came into play. Started work as Band Manager in 1985. Position changed DEO, CEO to DOO, over the years. I was also Lands Manager and Treaty Officer for Tsawout First nation

As soon as I got to work I was busy with the children.  Had to make sure they were safe and had snacks and lunch, played with them in the gym and outside.  I got to know my youths really fast and enjoyed working with them.

It was a really fun summer working with the kids, we had lots of free time to plan different activities and to do what the kids wanted. Consistent schedule, direct deposit…great first job for students for the summer
