I left my previous job to join Cimpl. The offer was better, more vacation time, and the job culture is just amazing. The marketing team is the most passionate I've ever seen. I've never worked in a place with such amazing and friendly co-workers. However, the R&D team is complete chaos.

On my first day, I approached my team leader and all he did was handle me a piece of paper saying "you will sit here, this is your login and password". I got a computer with a broken mouse, a damaged keyboard (which never got replaced), and computer full of personal files from the previous developer. It actually took the whole morning for the support team to get me a working mouse. After cleaning the files myself, I asked my team leader about how to set up my environment and he "ask XXX who sits next to you". That was all the communication between me and my team leader for 60 days.

Communication was nearly non existent, aside from 2 nearly useless meetings per week, that could have been replaced by an email. We used skype for business instead of slack to "save money". I received zero training about the application, except from someone from the marketing team that explained what the main product does. 

I would get my assignments by skype from another team member, who claimed to be a regular employee of the same hierarchy as me (but was the one who decided to fire me). I had to check in 2 other environments if the bug was still "alive", since it may have been fixed by someone and that person - usually - would not inform the team about it. There was some documentation, but very outdated and nearly useless. I was supposed to either figure out by myself or disrupt someone else's work and ask questions all day.

Often, we would have 2 or more people working on the same bug, due to lack to communication. Bugs had no priority classification - a label change had the same importance of something that would crash the application. And not rarely, we would spend hours or even an entire day working on a bug that never existed - it was nothing but a misunderstanding of QA about the business rules. Not their fault, since there is no documentation. But many fixed bugs would be rejected by QA because they wanted something else, that was not listed on the bug, fixed. And on the end of the month, those rejections would impact my evaluation.

I was called unprofessional and a "junior developer" for merging with a change, that happened to be an rework of the entire mapping of the application, that was literally not discussed or informed about. Ironic.

After 2 months, I was told on my evaluation I wasn't fixing enough bugs per month, and that I should ask more questions to fix them faster. I heard the same on 3 months - along with being called unprofessional and a "junior developer". So I asked what would be a number of fixes per month that would satisfy them, and the answer was "we don't know, it depends". If you can't give me number that would be good enough, how can you say that my current one isn't? Feels like I was hopeless from the start.

On my last month, I doubled my monthly number of fixes (besides having 2 weeks off due to holidays), had 0 rejections, but was still dismissed as soon as the year started. At least, I got paid for 2 weeks notice. My team "leaders" were facing the ground or the walls the entire time while the HR leader was dismissing; not even kind enough to look me in the way or say something at all. I asked multiple times, and he confirmed my performance was the only reason for terminating me.

When taking classes for my MBA in Project Management, the thing I heard the most was "No level of technical skill alone can make someone a leader, if he/she has no communication skills. That is the single most important thing for being a leader." And I saw that in action while working at Cimpl.

If you are a developer and get an offer from Cimpl, just make sure it's not for the support team, and you will probably love your job.

The company is great to work for.
The people made a big difference in the workplace. As the saying goes, it's not the job that motivates you to wake up every morning to get to work, it's the people you work with. 
I've made good friends over the 3 years there and acquired experiences that helped me advance in my career. Unfortunately not at Cimpl as this is where they were lacking - growth and career advancements.

One of my worst experiences, very toxic environments charged with office politics and agendas. Some of the senior leadership have questionable business ethics which reflect in their teams. The product back in the day was terrible, many features didn’t work, several bugs and architecture flaws.

I can't be a reference. First year was excellent and I was doing nice activities case was very happy there .. then I got a new project with a new team leader.  Things went to opposite. Moreover I was getting very low salary no

Cimpl is a great place to work. A lot of opportunities to learn new skills and move around the company internally, the advancement is based on merit and measurable impact. I would also say I have been blessed with great coworkers that I have and continue to learn a lot from.

if inside sales is for you - its a good place to work. small company culture and liner structure. If cold calling isn't for you - I wouldn't recommend the business development role. Perhaps look at their marketing roles.

Was not fairly evaluated.   People are nice helpful but management was not equally treating  people. Some of the high positions  went to people who were not able to fulfill their initial job

Upland Software is a decent place to work because of the people in the office.  They try to treat the employees well.  Everyone works hard at what they do.  Head office is not in same location so sometimes there is a disconnect.

Ok I'm glad no one died but you shouldn't put a fake title, especially about death. Death is a terrible thing to joke about, so stop.﻿ there is room for improvement.

Poor management. Company grows by acquisition of software companies that are mediocre at best. Very difficult to sell, poor product marketing, would not recommend.
