Virtuous Pie

I worked at the Victoria location in 2022. While the restaurant itself was nice to work in, it was really difficult to get into a good work flow when the different roles within the company were all the same: all staff was expected to learn both FOH & BOH tasks, and there was little to no motivation to move up within the company. As someone who has plenty of FOH & BOH experience, it was truly embarrassing to work there and have no personal responsibility or consequences - I felt I was often getting blamed for everyone else’s mistakes. I also saw the manager of the restaurant a total of 4 times in the whole 2 months I worked there - and I never once saw her do anything other than sit on her computer. 
While this company is sweet and I recommend dining there, I highly advise against anyone with any past serving experience not to apply - this is a very entry level restaurant job. 

I was promised a reasonable work-life balance, but what I got was a relentless barrage of insane hours that left me questioning my sanity. The constant pressure to cut labor costs was beyond absurd. I was expected to perform the impossible feat of maintaining quality service with a skeletal staff. It was like trying to juggle flaming torches while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. It was like working in a culinary sweatshop. Working at VP was a soul-crushing experience that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. If you enjoy long hours, being treated like a disposable pawn, and witnessing the slow and painful demise of a once-promising establishment, then by all means, apply for a job here. But if you value your sanity, your well-being, and your passion for the restaurant industry, run far, far away from this house of horrors.

Literally have PTSD from this place. The chef would intimidate me so I wouldn't report him for being unprofessional. Upper management would not care and the lower-tiered employees would be punished for any problems caused by chef/GM(inconvenient hours, stricter rules and policies, and not trusting our work ethic for little to no reason). Was promised wage increase and certified apprenticeship hours, never happened after 6+ months. Company cares more about cutting costs than employees' wellbeing. I'd never recommend working here unless you just really love discounted pizza(no free meals). 

I loved working here. I got to work with the best team, everyone is so dedicated and serious with their work. They did hire the best people, that's always a plus. The kitchen is as clean as you expect it to be. The manager got high standard but not at all bossy. They will tell you exactly what they want, but people got different methods of doing the same stuff, as long as it works, you will be fine. It was a bit labour intensive for me, but it was my first job so maybe it was just me. I felt really sad when I got laid off because the restaurant was not as busy anymore though, but it is understandable. 

Terrible place to work, wages were random (some people were hired with a higher wage than those who had been there the longest), almost always did overtime. New people were barely trained so if they half-assed their job, we had to stay longer to fix their mistakes. Only got offered a higher wage when I put my 2 weeks in, there were no benefits at all. Overall terrible management and no consistent schedule. They’d add things to the menu and expect you to do more work in the same amount of time, also if someone left they wouldn’t hire anyone to replace them, just add the workload onto whoever was left. 

loved the people I worked with and the fast paced nights, but management was so stop and go that it put a lot of stress on everyone. And the turnover of staff is absolutely insane... I would train new people every few days because so many people wouldn't be able to handle working the insane nights.

Virtuous Pie Victoria is incredibly inclusive. All types of people are welcomed and their needs listened to and respected. Management cares greatly about their staff and are attentive to any concerns or questions. Staff are recognized for their hard work. Suggestions for improvements are welcomed and often staff ideas are put into action. 

Virtuous Pie was an excellent work environment on the days the management was not in. Everyone would be in sync and the restaurant flowed smoothly. 

However when management was in they put lots of stress on the staff causing all of us to under perform. 
Management was also very unorganized, and rejected our requests to put in an AC until fall started to approach and we no longer needed it. 

Otherwise a great job, anyone would be lucky to work there.

Advancement is arbitrary no clear outlining goals,  little support to operation staff, long hours, low pay for staff, not many salary positions. Will be forced to fill multiple positions while you're in a salaried position.

Management believes in dictatorships not leader ship. They blame and punish their employees for any problems in the business and refuse to acknowledge safety concerns that are brought up.
