Some of the crappiest equipment I have ever had the displeasure of using belongs to this company! 

They would only band-aid instead of fixing root problem (in-cab exhaust leak, worn out casting that would make a full fuel truck snake around in it's lane endlessly as it drove down the road. solution? just put on a new washer, nut and bolt that would constantly fall out because the too-expensive-to-replace casting was getting worn out). Some trucks had over 750,000kms, many things didn't work as they should and dispatcher would constantly promise that they'd get fixed "next week" which would never come. Was not fun driving around 15,000L of flammable liquid in the summer during a heat wave when the AC in your truck didn't work. Company was not concerned with the comfort of its drivers and too cheap to do proper repairs. They profit, you suffered.

If the company purchased a new truck, an antique tank would get slapped on the back of it. Things would break not even 1 week after coming back from a shop because this company would frankenstein together some piece of garbage.

Poor planning on the dispatchers part would see you driving out into a blizzard up an icy logging road with no cell reception at 6pm onwards, a job that would take 3+ hours to complete. If the truck broke down, you were f****d. If any kind of accident or mishap occurred, well, hopefully someone would drive by because there was no way you could call for help otherwise and would likely freeze to death. 

Company preached safety, but all they practiced was profits off of your risk and suffering in extremely sub-par equipment. Did not do enough, in my mind at least, to mitigate some of the risks and danger that inherently come with this job.

Other drivers were really great people to work with, there was an alright year end bonus if you performed your duties perfectly, and some incentives in the form of sometimes really weird "prizes" for doing your job well.

Typical work day consisted of arriving promptly at work to check emails and voicemails.  The day would be organized from the previous day, but most times the day's agenda would change significantly due to unexpected dealings with internal and external contacts regarding products, services, contracts, issues, new projects, assignments from management.  Once unexpected items were dealt with, I regained focus on the original day's agenda. 

My company went through several mergers and acquisitions.  I feel one of the most important lessons I learned from working for this company was to keep working hard and to maintain a positive attitude.  As a result, change and keeping an open mind resulted in great opportunities for me. 

I reported to a Purchasing Manager.  He allowed me to work autonomously, yet brought my team together on a regular basis to obtain updates on one another's work, update us on the direction of the department/company, to brainstorm.  My manager was supportive and encouraged us to work independently and make our own decisions.    

My management and direct co-workers were located in another province from me so we stayed in close contact through email, telephone, and regular monthly meetings.  My co-workers were very supportive and we had a great respect for each other and our work.  We each brought something valuable to the department.  I still maintain these relationships.

One of the greatest challenges of the job was convincing employees to comply with preferred suppliers and programs, and then to have them maintain that compliance over time. 

The most enjoyable parts of the job were finding ways to help the company save money and assisting departments with what they need in order to achieve their goals.

I started my career with Bunge as a Quality Assurance Technologist and moved to Research and Development after one year. I worked as a Research Scientist for seven years. I learned a lot related to Food Science, Food Technology and Food manufacturing during this time. I was lucky to have very knowledgeable senior Scientists in my R&D group to guide and educate me when I joined the Bunge research department. Bunge provided me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Bunge has an excellent workplace culture and taught me the value of team work. Bunge encouraged me to push my limits to achieve my goals. During my time with Bunge I have initiated several research projects and executed them successfully. When I moved into a corporate role as an Operations Chemist I learned the management skills and also explore myself into new operational challenges. Bunge has a very strong safety culture and always work hard to put safety first before profit. I enjoyed  everyday working at Bunge during my time and I will say overall it is a very good company to work, learn and grow personally and professionally.

I worked at the Altona bunge location for a year and was treated very very well! lots of company lunches good pay and benefits. I started off in one position and was aloud to move to other positions, the position I liked the most had a shift work schedule. I tried the shift work schedule for 1 year and it did not work for me and my family the constant changing sleep schedules and the back and forth between weekdays and weekends, it really affected my personal and family life for the worse so I decided to leave. I do not regret for one minute working here I just wish that the positions I liked had more stable hours. There was employees that liked the shift work and I can see some reasons why but for me personally it did not work. Not all positions are shift work just the ones I liked.

Next to no business process at this location. Everyone just does whatever suits them and passes along whatever they don't want to do expecting others to do the work. 

Workers were all good, friendly and try their best but training is inconsistent and incomplete due to staff turnover, lack of resources and focus. 

Safety is two-tiered from production to maintenance. This was supposedly being addressed when I left. 

Next to no recognition for good work. They only complained about what could be done better or how they think it should have been done.  

Management just focuses on numbers and not specific challenges at each location for funding. 

Pay/Benefits was ok but not worth the headaches

Company has been saying they are expanding this location for years and have done very little.

Bunge is moving in right direction regarding benefits, industry-standard pay and Paid Time Off policies.

However, some of these policies exist on paper but not in reality, including work from home, condensed work week, etc.  If you take advantage of these, you will be looked down on by other managers, employees.

Still a bit of an "Old Boys Club" mentality to management. This includes the appearance of staying at the office late to impress management, whether you're working or not, they seem to like this.  As opposed to those who do their work and head home at end of day.

Overall, a good place to work, decent culture and some good people. Not a lot of opportunities within Canada, seem to be centralizing operations more and more in St Louis.

This is by far the worst place I have ever worked in my entire life. The company overall seems like a good place to work, but the greenhouse is full of drama. They have created a clique and want to be in control of everything. They make it extremely hard for you to show your worth and when things go wrong (even if it could be a result from casual employees or a combination of everyone) they place the blame on the new person if they don't like you. They claim to be very flexible, but there is NO flexibility once your employment begins. So unless you're willing to dedicate your ENTIRE life to this place and want to be a mule, I would suggest looking for employment elsewhere!

  A typical day was to try and put the trucks to the bins as fast as possible to keep the line moving and still try to keep the cleaners fed and emptied out when needed.  I learned to multitask very quickly and how to manage people. Some managers didn't really care about the employee just wanted to get the job done as quick as possible.  The coworkers were great to get along with and worked well together. The hardest part of the job was working the 16-18 hour days loading cars. The most enjoyable part was working with the coworkers.

Hard to work for unorganized and don’t know where to put you , to many staff on shift, not enough chiefs that know what your doing all time , especially the marketing manger telling you what to do and he’s not your boss . And don’t do the proper training they say it takes a week and half and the assistant manger comes in and pushes you to get done faster . And don’t get breaks when loading rail cars . And they say you get a hot meal when loading cars you don’t , and I worked with a guy that was there for 16 years and still was a facility assistant and hasn’t gone for training for grading grain , and they tell you that you can move up the ladder went in turn is a bunch of bs .

Excellent management. Bosses tended to be helpful but don't micromanage and try to keep a respectful culture.  A very successful company with an extremely strong safety aura.   Exceedingly clean for a production facility.  Working in the plant can be hot, especially in the summer.  The plant is constantly going so the work flow is very steady.  Not a break neck speed but expect to be productive all day.  The turn over rate is very low.
