Wallace and Wallace Fences

I recently had the opportunity to work at Wallace, and I feel compelled to share my experiences, which regrettably were not all positive. While there were aspects of the job that had potential, the pervasive nepotism and the resulting feelings of exclusion left a significant mark on my overall experience.

From the moment I joined Wallace, it became apparent that there was a palpable culture of nepotism deeply embedded within the organization. It seemed like a significant portion of the workforce consisted of relatives and close friends of higher-ups in the company. This nepotistic environment created a sense of favoritism and entitlement among a select group, which in turn hindered fair opportunities for others to grow and succeed.

One of the most disheartening aspects of my time at Wallace was the distinct feeling of being left out. It often felt as though promotions, plum assignments, and career advancement opportunities were primarily reserved for those with familial or personal connections to the decision-makers. This left many of us who lacked such connections feeling undervalued and overlooked, no matter how hard we worked or how skilled we were in our roles.

Additionally, the lack of transparency regarding decision-making processes only added to the frustration and disillusionment. There was little to no effort made to communicate the rationale behind promotions or why certain individuals received preferential treatment, which only fueled the perception of nepotism.

While I believe in fostering a positive and inclusive work environment, Wallace unfortunately fell short in this regard. In a workplace marred by nepotism, it's challenging to thrive and feel like a valued member of the team when merit and hard work are often overshadowed by personal connections.

Despite these negative aspects, it's important to acknowledge that Wallace did have some redeeming qualities, such as a relatively flexible work schedule and decent compensation. However, these positives were overshadowed by the detrimental effects of the nepotistic culture.

In conclusion, my time at Wallace left me with mixed feelings. While I appreciated certain aspects of the job, the prevalence of nepotism and the resulting feelings of exclusion ultimately made it a less-than-ideal workplace. I hope that Wallace takes steps to address these issues and create a more equitable and inclusive work environment for all employees in the future.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Overtime is good, benefits are good. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They don’t care about the wellness of their installers, if there’s conflict between employees they ignore it and if an individual addresses that they don’t feel safe in their current working environment they laugh at you and give you less hours until you quit. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and can be very demeaning, some guys are very aggressive and rude. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stand around for 20 minutes waiting for everyone to show up, start time is a recommendation. Load up and go to site and work outside all day, then go home and rinse repeat.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Decent hours, decent location.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
High expectations but jobs are not thought out properly, people selling things they do not understand 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful with unrealistic expectations 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive at the shop at 8 find out the job that was planned for you the day before is now going to another tech and, now you’ll be heading to a different job under equipped and under prepared

From the moment I joined Wallace I felt like part of the family. 

The positive workplace culture, opportunities for growth, and commitment to employee well-being make it an exceptional place to work. I  recommend Wallace to prospective employees seeking a fulfilling and rewarding career.

This company has great products, it's a shame the management is not up to par. It seems that if you're friends or family with someone here, you'll do alright. If you're an "outsider", it is very hard to find a sense of belonging, even if you work hard. Favoritism is prevalent here unfortunately.

Nepotism is great with this company, 
Career advancement is only possible if you know any friends or family in a higher up position, it’s common practice to higher a new person for a perspective role than give others an opportunity in such role. 

Wallace is a great place to work, lots of room to grow, people who are passionate and care about helping their customers, and a great quality product that is great to stand behind and promote, offer room to grow and develop, feel fortunate to be part of this company as it continues to grow

I loved working at Wallace & Wallace. The management cares deeply about their employees and they supported me as I grew into different roles. I was always encouraged to learn and grows and they helped me to do that well. 

I enjoy how much I learn on the job every day. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn new things. I can communicate with my manager, and listens to what I have to say.
