Water Pure & Simple

Twenty years ago, I was a 10-per-cent partner in the key Edmonton South franchise of Water Pure & Simple.   The company overall has been providing excellent products for health-conscious consumers.  In 1993 there were ambitious plans to establish a dynamic marketing structure across Canada and then internationally.   This network marketing scheme fizzled out after a couple of years, but the company still survives on a modest level.   I was the plant manager of our franchise for a year.   The hours were very long, and I wasn't versatile enough to meet the demands of a job that called for production labour, deliveries and customer service, administration, training, and dealing with other franchises for whom we bottled.   There was added stress from our marketing associates and the great expectations that we had for both the franchise and the organization overall.   I had to step down from the job after a year.   The work gave me a taste of the entrepreneurial spirit and an appreciation of the challenges faced by small businesses.

Safety issues included failure to remove ice from the delivery bays and lips in sidewalk resulting in falls.  
Expectation to deliver to unsafe areas.  I am not a scapholder and the expectation to climb scapholding in order to carry 2 - 50 lbs jugs of water to the water station is ridiculous.
In Jan they laid us all off without notice and without severance advising the company was not making any money.

At water pure and simple there are little to no work safety protocols, just get in the truck and get the deliveries done. Personally I have had trucks break down on me 5 times, and I have been here for just over 1 year. The worst experience with the trucks there was when the brakes failed landing me in the oncoming lane of HWY 3 just west of Taber AB.

Effective crew with team players, always helping each other and getting the job done correctly and safely.

Management is honest, down to earth and guides you in the right direction.

Good all around hours, very good pay but the work was overwhelming at times.

Good place to work at, was a good after school/summer job. Friendly people to work. Decent pay for the work that you are doing. Was able t work at my own pace, never felt over whelmed with work or customers.

starts work at 8 am gets to work repairs some equipment and most everyday I go on the truck. which is a great day. we deliver 0 pond water jugs and skids of ice all around fort mcmurray and surrounding areas .

Job duties varied depending on season. Duties included: driving, swamping, warehouse management and lead hand. This job included lifting up to 50 lbs on regular basis, which suited me.

Great and fun environment to work in. Do not regret working there. I made so many great people and the customers were so kind and caring towards the workers.

Fun work just not somewhere you can grow in the company,spent 6 years there and did not exceed in the company at all.looking for a place to make a career

This company was sold many years ago...I worked there as a laborer when i was in High School. I mean, i had a job when I was in high school, what is wrong with kids today.....so lazy
