A typical day at work would consist of organizing groups such as upper extremity group, balance group, breathing group, standing group and theraband group. Working with patients one on one and performing exercises based on their plan of care designed by their Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist. Helping with patient transfers and working alongside with the PT/OT walking patients.

Working at West Park, I have learned a lot about patient management and what the rules and regulations are when it comes to patient care and treatment in rehab. I have learned the different techniques on wheelchair safety and what wheelchairs are suited for certain patients. Working at West Park, learning how to document properly and how to build a well professional rapport with the patients there.

Working with the rehab team is a very delightful experience and to know that everyone works together and helps each other out whenever needed. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to help the patients and being able to build a really good rapport with all of them. Working at West Park has given me a chance to meet new people and build that professional relationship with everyone.

It is hard to be a nurse here, especially if youre new because a lot of senior nurses nitpick how you do your job and purposely set you up to fail. I dont know why they are doing this, maybe because they have been working there for years and they feel threatened by new nurses with skill sets that are different from their practice. In orientation, they will tell you that the everyone will help you but after you get off orientation if you get on their bad side, they will gang up on you and backstab you to the manager. This is specific to the west side of the facility, i dont know about the east. The workload is lighter compared to other facilities and the pay is good but the work culture is so toxic and you will end up doubting yourself as a nurse everyday. If you can hold on for a few months, it might get better, but its not worth the stress. 

West Park pays good salary, higher than the average. However, the work culture here is not good. All the departments are run by politics, a lot of backstabbing among colleagues and the management never supports their staff. They will even make you feel incompetent and unwanted rather than give you support. If you're a new staff and have a higher education among your colleagues, they will work against you and see you as a threat. Management knows nothing but to micro-manage their staff, hence, the staff moral is very low. Instead of working together for the sake of the patients, everyone is working against each other and they don't know how to practice team work, which has a huge impact on the quality of care that they provide their patients.

A typical day at work is assisting patient with ALS  and bring the patient to his physical therapy. I wasn't aware what ALS before until I started working there and I have learned how it can affect not just the patient but it also affect the family emotionally and mentally. People that I worked with our pretty helpful specially the nurses and the therapist they were there when ever the patient or the family have questions . The hardest part of the job is looking at the patient's eye and see their frustration about their situation and watching them deteriorates . The most enjoyable part of the job is watching the very sick patient improve.

Working at West Park as a security guard was a frustrating experience. The position lacked proper support, clear communication, and adequate training. Expectations were often unclear, yet accountability was placed heavily on frontline staff without the tools or authority needed to do the job effectively.

Staffing issues and inconsistent management made it difficult to maintain a safe and organized environment. Concerns raised by security staff were frequently overlooked, which negatively impacted morale and job performance. Overall, the role felt undervalued, and the working conditions made it challenging to succeed in the position

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company allowed me the freedom to utilize and share my wide and extensive past work experience and knowledge with others.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Regardless of tremendous pre-planning, meeting deadlines become particularly stressful.  I look at stress as just another level in the process to meeting the goal.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment as very supportive and amicable.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very productive and fruitful and  a sense of accomplishment at end of the day.

Used to be a great place, but over the past 5+years upper management is completely out of touch with staff.   Very unfortunate change for staff.  Management is more concerned with numbers than staff involvement, appropriate referrals, appropriate staffing numbers and the new building.  Many staff have been reallocate to preparing for the move to our new building, but the vacant positions have not been filled!  Departments are left without managers, nurses work lots of overtime because they can't hire people.  
CEO is never seen, she is always in her office and never on the units, unlike previous CEO.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
Small hospital with lots of collaboration because you know most people and can ask directly for help.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Always being asked to do more. Have to learn to say ...no.
The world will not crumble. Yet I do go the extra mile.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and like a family. I like knowing most people.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work Monday to Friday and regular days. There is flexibility.

What is the best part of working at the company?
it is a new building and everyhing is fresh. and a well paid organization

nothing stress me out there.food service manager is a considering manager and  it is an organized system department.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
multicultural staff. occupational gathering to eat and socializing. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
working with other groups like diet tech. administrators and food service supervisor.

I volunteered at West Park for over a year. I worked in a few different roles here, but mostly as a communication facilitator. In this role, I worked one-on-one with patients and in group settings. This was fulfilling position, though constantly a challenge. It really does take a special kind of person to work in a rehabilitation setting such as this every day. I came away from this position with immense respect for those who do it every day - and the people at West Park do this with smiles on their faces day in and day out.
