Placed in poor working areas over and over again. Worked extremely hard and fast for quite a few years and in the time received no training on machinery or various other working locations unless I was to sore to work where I was usually placed. New people would hit the floor and if they were a pretty girl or super chummy with management they would be operating machinery the next day after training and climb up the ladder within just a few months even though they would waste a lot of time on bathroom breaks and talking it up with who ever walked by and iv management came by the people working would be acted to pick up the pace instead of coming down on the slackers. At this business its definitely the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.... I kept my head down and work hard and fast and it never got noticed because I wasn't a talkative person and I never complained always just hoped my hardwork would be recognized. HUGE TURNOVER RATE. you are always being watched and not trusted there. they put up cameras to keep an eye on "theft" but where the cameras are placed there is nothing that could be taken unless you are capable of carrying out 30 foot beams around 150pounds by your self! cameras are there to watch employees. Not a lot of bright people working here either.... well I guess I should say just a lot of scared people. the union contract has come up quite a few times now and when ever change is possible its always turned down and comes down to a possible strike vote which scares the people working there so they just agree with what the company says and take its. They have changed a few things to make employees more comfortable but it was more to stop the people from complaining then to help the employees. If you are placed in a high intensity labour area for days and you happen to slow up for a bit because you are sore from being put there or in other high intensity areas over and over management will come by and say do it like this and they will start doing it crazy fast for 5 min and say there its not so bad... well of course its not if you only had to do it for 5 minutes and not 8 hours a day 5 days a week. they should realize which areas of their mill work which areas of the body and work with that. you cant do leg day 5 days a week and expect to be fine same goes with all other areas of the body. I know I should have said something while I worked here but im not that kind of person to speak out and I was even quite hesitant to fill this out but after a sentence or two it just came pouring out... Ventilation system there is also extremely poor a lot of people have acquired cedar allergies and are now on inhalers or have been forced to quite and seek other job opportunities. they do supply free lunch every one in awhile which is nice but it is more of a bandage for a much larger issue at this mill. No one seems to notice it until they have been there for around a year or 2 and then they all see the same thing. The whole roof is also just one big patch job. if you walk around up there a lot of it moves and feels like it will cave in and when it rains or in the spring there are many many leaks and I cant quite tell but from the floor all the black areas on the roof look like black mold..... maybe another cause of the breathing issues.

I had what I believed to be a promising interview that believed would have a warm, accepting culture. But I worked here for not even 2 weeks and could smell the stench of favoritism from management once I got there. 

If you aren't a girl that comes to the plant in revealing shirts, someone who will kiss butt, or be chummy with management then forget about it. They will not invest into you.  

I only ever got to putty wood and occasionally pile the wood. They decided to let me go because I was not a "good fit" after hardly a week. I could lap several people there that didn't apply themselves. That's as fast as they decide on your future potential there.  I came ever day early,  signed up for overtime, and did more than my job.  Still not good enough because I didn't check the boxes of the previous description. Don't waste your time here if you want to go to work... to work. 



What is the best part of working at the company?
I work at Woodtone still and there has been ups and downs but for the most part, I have never worked with a group of people that care as much as these people do. There main goal is success for the company and anyone who's willing to try and do there best. I honestly love working at Woodtone. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Changing market and new products. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
For the most part it's good. Has improved drastically over the past couple years.  Definitely not perfect and has a ways to go yet but is leaning towards a good work environment. Still is hard work but the company is doing it's best to automate the more physically demanding jobs, so that everyone can work there.

They are a company a little out of their depth with a management team with little to no training or outside experience.  They are unable to give reasonable goals based on history and will instead simply tell you the machines top speed if asked for a target.  Company has very inconsistent communication habits.  The jobs are easy and pay decent for unskilled labor.  There's nowhere to go with this job though because it's a small company that hires from outside for it's more important jobs.  The turn over rate says a lot about the company and they are lucky to hold on to 2/5 new hires.

I have been with the company for over 3 years now, and in that time, there have been so many positive changes. Changes to production, safety standards and requirements, and management structure. 
Sometimes change can be hard to accept, but overall, I am thankful to be working for Woodtone and have no thoughts of ever leaving. 
I enjoy building working relationships not just with the rest of management, but with our production employees too. 


I was recently employed at this company. From the outset, it was clear that the company culture was not only unwelcoming but outright discriminatory. Despite my best efforts and qualifications, I faced constant microaggressions and was ultimately terminated under what I believe were discriminatory circumstances. It's disheartening to see such practices in today's world, and I hope sharing my experience will encourage others to reconsider working here and prompt the company to address these serious issues."

I was a plant supervisor for a few months before I said I refuse to let people be treated so poorly. I stood up for my staff and management didn’t like that. The verbal situations that occurred is just toxic workplace environment, extremely high turnover is for a reason. Few safety issues I found while being there as well. I’d say more but figure it out for yourself if you want…. Worked there in 2013 and left and realize again shortly after why I cannot work in a place like that… great benefits though! Only perk other than long weekend pizza…

Overall I'd say it a pretty good place to work and lots of opportunity to get further training and into higher paid roles.
I started about a year ago when all the Covid shutdowns were happening and needed to work - the company did everything possible to protect us.
Starting pay wasn't great but it was the same as other companies in the area for in-experienced workers - I took and was trained for a posted position and my rate is quite good now.

Good job if you need money, need to be hard-working and in decent shape. The job is production based and you need to keep up with the expected speed by management. Management was subpar and not very good in my opinion. The most enjoyable part of the job was the fact that you get 3 days off. I learned a lot and they are very safety orientated.
