Night shift you're responsible for alllll the cleaning on top of being responsible for the boarding dogs. Being responsible for the boarding dogs while cleaning makes it difficult to actually supervise the dogs which means the dogs were left alone a lot. I did not find that very safe along with being in the facility till 10pm alone. The owners did not seem to care how that made me (along with other employees) feel. The daycare staff would be left alone to supervise 40 dogs and more. They definitely need more staff in my opinion. The dogs were fun to be around, but again being responsible for feedings, walks, cleaning, setting up the daycare for next day puts alot of stress on one person. Sometimes it would be difficult to get things done which you would constantly get into trouble for even after voicing that its too much work to do in 1 night shift. I felt very underpaid for the work needing to be done.

As someone who has worked here for over a year, I can honestly say that working with dogs is difficult work.  No two days are the same, and you're on your feet a lot.  However, when you work with a team of people who care for the dogs, and the owners are on-site and supportive, you feel like you are part of a family.  I've learned a lot over the past few years, from dog health and nutrition to dog behaviour and handling techniques.  These skills will stay with you for a lifetime and will be constantly relied upon working in the pet care industry.  The most difficult part of the job is definitely the physical aspect of handling dogs, but also being patient, as some dogs may not be the best behaved.
