This company is in a state of change- the new rules imposed by the federal government have proven to be challenging, but not insurmountable. The culture here is very inclusive, and management is very approachable. I have never had a door closed for me, and I know of no one else here who has, either. The dispatchers work with you, and your family, in order to keep you on the road when you want, and time at home when you want. The best part of the job is the dispatch team- yes, a trucker who likes his dispatch! I can say after over 10 years of dealing with not-so-amiable dispatchers, dealing with iHaul's dispatch is a real pleasure. The hardest part of the job is actually the equipment- the trucks (however, that is changing for the better). iHaul's current fleet has it's idiosyncracies (breakdowns, leaking cabins, etc)- but brand new trucks are showing up on the lot all the time. They lease the trucks, and send them back for replacement when they hit a certain mileage- keeping the fleet fresh, new and (hopefully) breakdown free.


Worked here for a couple of months and in that time I had 2, maybe 3 days off at home. I was hired to do a Calgary to BC run, but ended up getting sent to Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Edmonton more often than not. Sat many days away from home waiting for loads. This was my first experience with "long haul", so maybe that is normal.. The tractors were decent. The one I was assigned was fairly dirty inside when I got it and it took me a few days to get it cleaned up. They have cameras that point at the road and into the cab, which is fine for the most part. It does add a bit of stress knowing they are watching your every move. Over all my experience with this company was very disappointing and I would not recommend working here. I make more money driving the same hours locally and I get to be home every night, so even the money didn't make the stress worth it.

I was hired to do long haul across Canada, the driver recruiter lied about the job details and pay. Dispatch was hard to communicate with and hard to get on the phone. They change your loads with little to no notice and expect you to do whatever they ask. I had to watch every pay check, usually there was missing pay, layovers, and load/unload stop pays. If you try to talk to payroll they don't answer their phone or email. They don't have a breakdown pay and don't pay you layovers if you breakdown, they offer to pay a hotel OR a small food allowance, not both. The company is more concerned about money than their drivers and the owners only care about money. Overall my experience with this "company" was terrible. I don't recommend anyone to work here, stay away and don't be fooled there's way better places to work.

If you read all these reviews starting in 2019, it was a good place to work when they 1st purchased H&R. However, as time went on and true colors started to emerge, you will notice the reviews get nastier and more foreboding. As one of the H&R crossover drivers, things didn't go south immediately but progressively showed you were just a number. What once was a 3 rounder week has finally ground to a 1 and a half rounder. Fighting to get paid for layovers, detention and everything else that wasted my time on my log was finally the tipping point. Go see for yourself, because they'll hire anyone with a class 1. MELT program?! ...please! Almost everyone is related to one another now with all the new hires and good luck...

They put you on a trip good for 3 days & half 
Then have you waiting for a new load offer any where to 4 to 6 & even eight days at a truck stop week after week you won’t be able to burn & turn here no miles or money to be made here very little
It was like a rabbit chasing a carrot 
They don’t pay detention pay when your sitting over 12 hrs to get loaded also be prepared for getting burnt on layover pay they simply give u the run around /plus there tractor units are equipped with cameras in cab / which I find very annoying no privacy  some staff members are very disrespectful towards there drivers mind you there are a few staff members that are very good people 
you don’t have a name there your just a number / revolving door

After being at a couple of transportation companies, I can definitely say that this is the best one I have worked at by far. The ownership/management treats you like family and is fair with everyone across the board.

People work hard here to ensure the company is successful and they are growing at almost 25-30% per year. There is a strong team environment where everyone tries to help each other even if it is outside of their job duties.

There's not a lot of "culture" per se but I can see that management is making a lot of solid changes as they continue to grow from a small to mid size company.

I love everyone that I work with as they are so approachable.

The dispatchers are very friendly over the phone...that's the good part..the bad part is that they pay a little and only have organized tours from Surrey. When I usually finish unloading in the US I have to park and wait for several hours for them to call me back  tour!Horror...then in the end and when I get a tour in the direction of home I get to Calgary and instead of getting something towards Vancouver we get a tour to Moose Jaw...for example (opposite direction)!The company is trying to save money in every way, which I can understand...since I came from a smaller but well-organized company, it was difficult for me to work at iHaul!Cash adv is max 50us$,when need to pay something we used some checks....i am trying to forget iHaul!

Tough slugging here. Planners and dispatchers have no clue on most things.  Throw plans at drivers without checking their available log hours. They totally ignore the fact you were promised a steady diet of a certain lane that works with your lifestyle. Even though it’s a mid sized trucking company there isn’t an iHaul shop anywhere to be found. Trailers are antiques needing lots of repairs for which they refuse to pay you hourly to get repaired at an outside shop. There’s more to be said but you’re catching on by now I’m sure. 

Was very happy here until recently. Loads drying up sitting around too much. No communication anymore like if they don't inform you that you are going to be sitting at a truckstop for days maybe you won't notice. They assign  loads to you just before 24 hrs is up so they don't have to pay for sitting then take the load away. Nolonger fixing non safety essential components on truck. Fuel cards are hit and miss on whether they work without calling in to have them reauthorized Sadley it is time to move on.

The lack of loads to go around to all drivers.

Poor and poorer.   Horrible place to work
