INTRO

Hello Nanaimo!! MGM Restaurant is seeking that special person(s) to join our amazing team. The MGM is more than just a food establishment, we are a hub for community connection. Here you will not only learn how to excel at customer service but attain practical daily life skills in areas like communication and interpersonal relationships. Tip: Put yourself at the top of the pack. Bring a copy of your resume into the restaurant and introduce yourself (2pm Wednesday to Sunday is best time, ask to see Tricia).

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Server to join our dynamic restaurant team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional guest service, ensure food safety and sanitation standards are maintained, and contribute to a welcoming dining atmosphere. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tables efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems such as Micros POS
Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining quality standards
Handle cash and process payments accurately through cashiering systems
Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and increase sales
Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and adherence to food safety regulations
Manage time effectively to serve multiple tables efficiently during busy hours
Maintain cleanliness of dining area, tables, and service stations
Address guest inquiries or concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction
Follow all hospitality protocols to create a positive guest experience
Front of house cleaning and light food prep

Experience

Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments preferred but not required
Familiarity with POS systems preferred
Strong customer service skills required
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
Ability to perform basic math for cash handling and billing purposes
Experience in upselling menu items and providing guest services in the food industry is advantageous
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Serving it right certificate. Can be attained upon hiring.
