Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as an Recovery Advisor within the Emergency Management Organization – Recovery and Mitigation branch of the Manitoba Emergency Management Organization.

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Funding Programs the incumbent works as a member of the Recovery Advisor team to manage a portfolio of Disaster Financial Assistance claims.
Claim types managed by the incumbent may vary to include private sector and/or public sector claims. As interactions with the public and local authorities are a key function of this role, a diplomatic, professional and customer service oriented communication style are required.
With a high level of attention to detail, the incumbent will reconcile claims and input data into Microsoft Excel and Lotus Notes. Maximum assistance amounts will be determined by the Recovery Advisor by reading, interpreting and applying legislation, policy, guidelines and regulations to a claim.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Professional work experience in one of the following areas: building construction, inspection, or assessment; agriculture inspection; insurance brokerage; insurance claims management; or claims management. Related work experience demonstrating experience in claims processing or property/damage evaluation may be considered.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following: building construction techniques and materials; agricultural processes and practices; and claims management processes.
- Experience interpreting and applying policy, regulations, guidelines, and/or legislation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with experience navigating complex and sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
- Strong written communication skills with experience communicating simple and complex information to various stakeholders who have varying levels of understanding.
- Strong verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook), or equivalent software.
Desired:
- Experience with Lotus Notes or IBM Notes.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends as required.
- Must be able to travel by ground and air across Manitoba with possible overnight stays, as required.
