About The Role
We’re looking for an Associate Director, Systematic Literature Review to join our Outcomes Research team. In this role, you will lead the design, execution, interpretation, and communication of systematic literature reviews and qualitative evidence synthesis projects to support regulatory, health technology assessment (HTA), evidence generation and strategic decision-making initiatives. This role combines advanced methodological expertise, project leadership, client engagement, operational contribution, and people leadership to support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based solutions for clients and supports RainCity Analytics’ mission to improve healthcare decision-making through exceptional science.
Reporting to the Director of Outcomes Research, the Associate Director serves as a senior scientific contributor and project lead, overseeing complex evidence synthesis activities while supervising and mentoring staff. This role contributes to methodological quality, operational improvement, and strategic growth initiatives across the organization and collaborates closely with other Outcomes Research staff and the Health Economics, Analytics, and Operations teams.
While RainCity is based in Vancouver (where we have a hybrid work environment), the position could be remote anywhere in Canada.
What you’ll do:
Research and Review Methods and Applications
- Lead the design, execution, and oversight of systematic literature reviews (SLRs), targeted literature reviews, rapid reviews, feasibility assessments, evidence maps, and related evidence synthesis activities
- Provide advanced methodological guidance and quality oversight across clinical and non-clinical evidence domains (e.g., epidemiology, HCRU, humanistic and PROs)
- Oversee screening, extraction, synthesis, and reporting workflows in alignment with standard good practices and internal quality standards
Regulatory and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Agency Requirements
- Maintain a strong understanding of current industry standards and good practice methods and reporting guidelines (e.g., PRISMA, Cochrane)
- Apply strong working knowledge of regulatory and HTA evidence expectations to guide project execution and evidence interpretation
Evidence Synthesis, Interpretation, and Communication
- Lead development and review of structured evidence outputs, including evidence tables, reports, slide decks, manuscripts, datasets, and strategic summaries
- Translate complex evidence into clear, decision-relevant scientific narratives for clients and internal stakeholders
Leadership Responsibilities
- Serve as project lead for Outcomes Research studies and programs, coordinating project execution across team members and collaborating functions
- Supervise the work of Outcomes Research staff and provide day-to-day scientific and operational guidance
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff to support technical growth, consulting capability, and professional development
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Lead client calls and contribute to management of ongoing client engagements
- Contribute to proposal development, scoping discussions, timelines, and budget planning activities
Team Development & Mentorship
- Provide technical mentorship and scientific oversight to Outcomes Research staff across varying levels of experience
- Encourage knowledge-sharing, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous learning within the team
Operational & Project Support
- Support successful project execution through planning, prioritization, communication, and coordination across teams
- Allocate work across direct reports and oversee project progress, quality, and timelines
- Other duties as assigned to support client and company success
What you bring:
- Master’s degree or higher in epidemiology, public health, health services research, pharmacy, life sciences, or a related healthcare or research discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in outcomes research and evidence synthesis
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an HEOR consulting environment
- Demonstrated expertise in systematic literature reviews and evidence synthesis methodologies
- Strong understanding of regulatory and HTA evidence requirements
- Experience supervising or mentoring the work of others in a professional setting
- Demonstrated scientific communication experience, including publications, presentations, conference participation, or related outputs
- Familiarity with AI-assisted evidence review workflows and evolving research technologies
- Experience collaborating within cross-functional scientific teams
