Unit 10-2A is part of the Recovery Alberta Adult Acute portfolio of the Edmonton Zone Mental Health and Addictions program. As a Unit Clerk, you will support the Unit Manager as well as a team of physicians and regulated healthcare professionals. Clerical support is the underlying foundation and a key component as part of an interdisciplinary team. It helps to ensure that the unit runs as efficiently as possible. The roles of the Unit Clerk include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides clerical support to the unit. Liaise with Provincial Staffing Office to ensure adequate staffing for the unit. Sorts and files a variety of electronic documents (e.g. invoices, reports). Distributes incoming and outgoing mail. Data entry into a variety of information systems. Ordering and distributing of supplies. Filing, photocopying, faxing, and other administrative support duties. Answering and redirecting phone calls. Booking appointments for patients. Arranging transportation. Working with facilities management and maintenance to ensure unit upkeep. Assisting other units with coverage when necessary. The successful Unit Clerk will also have experience in adapting to change with different workflow structures and personalities on different units.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma and Unit Clerk Diploma/Medical Office Administration Certificate. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Minimum of two years medical clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written). Evidence of initiative and flexibility. Ability to engage in a cooperative work environment and spirit. Ability to organize time and resources effectively. Ability to function effectively within a dynamic work environment. Demonstrate reliability. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in Mental Health and Addictions.
