The Clayfield has partnered with Ascari Hospitality Group for all food & beverage operations including Terrain Restaurant, lobby lounge, Terrace, in-room dining, banquets, and off-site catering.
Ascari Hospitality Group is seeking a Baker/Pastry cook. Reporting to the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef this role is responsible for the focus and production of bread and bake goods program for terrain restaurant and hotel operations, as well as assist pastry in pastry production.

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Baker / Pastry Cook to help develop a focused bread and bakery department for the Terrain restaurant and hotel food outlets including banquets and events. This person will spearhead the bread and bakery production and assist pastry department where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods according to recipes and production schedules.
- Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients accurately.
- Decorate and finish pastries, cakes, and desserts to presentation standards.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures, and product quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times.
- Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and ingredient ordering.
- Ensure products meet quality, consistency, and freshness standards.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to meet customer demands.
- Assist in developing new recipes and seasonal menu items when required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a baker, pastry cook, pastry chef, or similar role.
- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and pastry preparation.
- Ability to follow recipes and production procedures accurately.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with artisan breads, laminated doughs, and cake decorating.
- Creativity in pastry and dessert presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
- Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced bakery, café, restaurant, hotel, or production kitchen environment.
- Exposure to heat from ovens and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Early morning and weekend shifts may be required.
Pay: $22.50-$24.00 per hour
