The Healing Institute is a premier addiction and mental health treatment center located on the beautiful Gabriola Island, British Columbia, situated on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. Our mission is to help individuals struggling with addiction and mental health challenges find their path to lasting recovery and a renewed sense of purpose. We specialize in individualized treatment programs addressing addiction, anxiety, depression and trauma using the most up-to-date evidence-based practices. Our multidisciplinary team maintains a high staff-to-client ratio and creates personalized treatment plans to ensure that every client receives focused interventions designed to support sustainable recovery.
The Housekeeper is responsible for the day-to-day care, cleanliness, and upkeep of all indoor living and program spaces. This role supports in-patient care, healing, and daily operations by ensuring a clean, welcoming, and comfortable environment that is aligned with therapeutic and cultural values. Working in a nature-based, licensed residential care setting, this role takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and respectful service.
Role-Specific Accountabilities:
Building Care & Housekeeping
- Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and upkeep of:
- Individual rooms and shared living spaces,
- Program and common areas,
- Offices and staff spaces,
- Bathrooms, kitchens, and shared facilities.
- Maintain cleanliness standards in accordance with residential care expectations.
- Report maintenance concerns, hazards, or damage promptly.
- Support infection prevention and general cleanliness practices within the scope of role.
Supplies & Inventory Support
- Assist with stocking, organizing, and monitoring housekeeping supplies.
- Notify supervisor when housekeeping supplies are running low.
- Maintain, clean, orderly storage, and laundry areas.
Regulatory Awareness & Documentation
- Follow housekeeping policies and residential care safety standards.
- Complete cleaning schedules, logs, and/or checklists are required.
- Support inspections, audits, and/or site visits as required.
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
- Work respectfully alongside clients, staff, and visitors.
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and respect for client privacy.
- Take pride in maintaining shared spaces that support healing and wellbeing.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a residential, healthcare, or hospitality setting
- Ability to perform physical work including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Experience in treatment, healthcare, or congregate living settings is an asset.
- First Aid certification or willingness or obtain.
Conditions of Employment
- Successfully complete and pass a Criminal Records Review Program record check.
Pay: $18.00-$23.50 per hour
