Personal Support Worker - Tillsonburg, Ontario - CAD$150.00/week

Description

About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a senior woman in Tilsonburg who uses a walker for mobility. She's experiencing some memory changes and needs support with daily activities while her husband is in palliative care at the local hospital. This is her first time receiving professional care support, and she values comfort, patience, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

Provide mobility assistance for someone who uses a walker, including support with transfers and movement around the home (note: there are stairs in the home)
Prepare nutritious meals and handle light meal planning
Complete laundry services and light housekeeping tasks
Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed for cognitive support
Provide transportation for errands and visits to see her husband in palliative care
Engage in meaningful companionship activities to combat loneliness
Support activities that promote strength, mobility, cognition, and overall quality of life
Maintain a safe home environment and monitor for safety concerns

What We're Looking For:

Experience supporting clients who use walkers or mobility aids
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Patience and calmness when providing memory care and redirection
Strong meal preparation skills
Ability to handle light housekeeping and laundry
English-speaking
Someone who brings positive energy and makes the client feel comfortable
Reliable, consistent, and takes initiative when needed
Respectful of the client's independence while ensuring safety
Understanding of the emotional needs of families dealing with palliative care situations

Schedule:

This position involves a few visits each week, approximately twice weekly with 3-hour visits (6 hours per week total). The family is exploring care options and will finalize the exact schedule after initial discussions. Flexibility during the matching process is appreciated as this is a new experience for the family.
