Job Description

Job Summary Reporting to the Manager the Housekeepers are responsible for housekeeping in a complex care and/or seniors living environment. Responsibilities and Duties

Provide housekeeping services for residents in accordance with established work routines.
Cleans, disinfects, vacuums, dusts, washes residents' rooms and furniture, common areas, and any other areas as assigned on a scheduled basis.
Prepares cleaning solutions and utilizes cleaning supplies in accordance with established procedures and safe practices.
Performs terminal cleaning duties upon vacancies.
Collect and dispose of waste, garbage, and recyclable materials from resident rooms and common areas. Ensure that waste is handled and disposed of properly according to facility and company policies and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other essential items in resident rooms and common areas. Inform supervisors when supplies are running low and assist with inventory management as needed.
Ensure a secure living environment by patrolling the building and investigating access violations following established policies and procedures.
Support the facility Safety Program and monitor safety in the living and working environment; respond to and report hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, and unsafe or faulty equipment.
Follow company and facility laundry guidelines and routines.
Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to fire/emergency procedures and policies of the facility.
Ensure all safety rules and safe work procedures are adhered to at all times.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
See something, Do Something! Proactively prioritize the health and safety of all workers, residents, and visitors. Reports all hazards, incidents and near misses in writing.
Utilize the Right to Refuse unsafe work when appropriate, by following the proper procedure.

Mandatory Qualifications
Building Service Worker Certificate or related work experience.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Holds and Maintains Valid certification in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
A negative TB test or chest x-ray within the last six months, or ability to provide TB clearance documents.
Successfully clears and maintains, as required by company and facility, an appropriate background/criminal record check in accordance with licensing regulations; Re-submits such as required or every five years.
Provide signed annual mandatory declaration of criminal records.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand and walk for majority of working hours and maneuver in confined spaces.
Able to complete repetitive tasks using hands and wrists such as wiping, scrubbing, folding, lifting and performing other hand and wrists movements with precision and accuracy.
Able to bend, stoop, and twist.
Ability to manage and lift, hampers, cleaning supplies, and other related items up to 20lbs.
Able to effectively make decisions in a timely manner.
Ability to work in environments that involve high exposure to heat, steam and cold.
Handling &/or storing potent cleaning agents, with being exposed to such.
Cleaning unpleasant accidents and spills in a complex care and/or seniors living environment.
Psychological Demands
Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks effectively and accurately.
Effective time management abilities are essential for multitasking and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
Clear and strong communication skills to follow instructions, collaborate with team members, bring forward concerns and site needs.
Proficiency in handling stress, managing, and balancing workload pressures, and maintain a positive attitude in the face of potential challenges within a care home setting.
