Reporting to the Manager, Health Systems Knowledge & Evaluation, the Research and Evaluation Consultant will support various program evaluation activities undertaken by the Health Systems Knowledge & Evaluation (HSKE) unit, either independently or as part of a collaborative team. HSKE is a provincial team within the Partnerships and Innovation department and the Quality Management & Innovation (QMI) portfolio of Acute Care Alberta. The team applies a variety of research, evaluation and knowledge management approaches to gather evidence to enable program leaders to: (i) understand the impact and value a specific project is generating, and (ii) gather and share knowledge for organizational improvement and learning. In this position, you will be required to work on a variety of projects under the leadership of a Senior Consultant, in collaboration with multiple members of the HSKE team, including Consultants, and Coordinators. The position requires general experience with research and evaluation methodologies, data management, analysis, and reporting, as well as knowledge of the health care system in Alberta. The location of the position within Alberta is negotiable.
Under the supervision of a Senior Consultant, you will work collaboratively to support implementation, evaluation, and reporting on healthcare-related projects. The work may be local to provincial in scope, dynamic, and fast-paced. These opportunities will provide experience in working with a variety of health sector stakeholders and care settings. This role is instrumental in: managing moderate to complex evidence gathering and evaluation projects at the local to systems level; supporting the design and implementation of scientifically rigorous evaluations; applying best practices related to research and evaluation methodology, theory and practice; establishing and sustaining positive and effective working relationships with internal and external clients, frontline service providers, management teams and co-workers; performing intermediate to advanced analysis and reporting that influences operational decision-making, strategic planning, program development and practice improvement; mitigating risks by ensuring the quality and integrity of results and ethical oversight of the highest quality.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree with a strong quantitative component in a related field, e.g., psychology, epidemiology, statistics, or other related fields.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Formal training in project evaluation and/or research methods and data analysis. Training must include a well-grounded understanding of quantitative research methodology. A minimum of five years of experience conducting research and evaluation projects. A minimum of two years of experience within a healthcare environment is required. Proficiency in written and verbal communication is essential. Proficiency in qualitative methods is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Canadian Evaluation Society Credentialed Evaluator Designation is an asset.
