National Sales Manager

We are a growing, entrepreneurial company seeking a hands-on National Sales Manager to lead and execute our sales efforts across Canada. This is not a large corporate management role—it's an opportunity for a sales professional who enjoys both developing strategy and actively engaging customers every day.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, strengthening customer relationships, and identifying innovative opportunities for business development.
Position Summary
The National Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the company's sales strategy while personally managing key customer relationships and prospecting activities. This role has one direct report (Inside Sales Representative) and requires a highly motivated individual who is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small business environment.
The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with a strong willingness to roll up their sleeves and actively sell. They leverage technology, social media, AI tools, and data-driven insights to create new opportunities and improve sales effectiveness.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute national sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Identify new markets, customer segments, and revenue opportunities.
- Create and implement sales plans, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to inform business decisions.
- Recommend innovative approaches to accelerate growth and increase market penetration.
Customer Development & Relationship Management
- Conduct regular outreach to existing and prospective customers through phone calls, video meetings, social media, email, and in-person visits.
- Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Expand business within existing accounts through cross-selling, upselling, and strategic account development.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across targeted industries and regions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for major customer relationships.
Technology & Business Development
- Utilize CRM systems, AI tools, social selling techniques, and digital platforms to improve prospecting and customer engagement.
- Leverage LinkedIn and other social media channels to build brand awareness and generate leads.
- Develop creative and data-driven approaches to increase customer acquisition and retention.
- Analyze sales data and customer trends to identify growth opportunities and improve performance.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and support the Inside Sales Representative.
- Establish clear goals, priorities, and accountability measures.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused sales culture.
Reporting & Analysis
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting.
- Use Excel and other analytical tools to evaluate sales performance and business opportunities.
- Prepare regular reports and recommendations for company leadership.
QualificationsRequired
- 5+ years of progressive B2B sales experience, preferably in a national or regional role.
- Demonstrated success in new business development and account growth.
- Experience creating and executing sales strategies.
- Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, CRM systems, and sales reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
Preferred
- Experience working in a small or entrepreneurial company.
- Active user of LinkedIn and other social media platforms for business development.
- Experience utilizing AI tools to improve productivity, prospecting, customer research, or sales effectiveness.
- Experience managing sales pipelines and forecasting revenue growth.
Travel Requirements
- Overnight travel required approximately every 4–6 weeks.
- Occasional attendance at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and strategic business development activities.
