Why This Role
In this role, you will spend most of your time building, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, and fixtures to support production requirements. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams, and be responsible for delivering high-quality tooling solutions that ensure efficiency, accuracy, and minimal downtime. This role balances hands-on manufacturing and troubleshooting with quality assurance and continuous improvement, providing clear expectations and measurable outcomes from day one.
The Role:
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, or dial indicators.
- Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to the prescribed dimensions and finishes.
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
- Inspect and test tools to ensure they meet operational requirements and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair tooling issues, including making modifications to improve tool performance.
- Maintain accurate records of tool repairs, and maintenance work performed.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide input for new tooling designs or modifications.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read drawings, manuals, notes and designs.
- Exceptional knowledge of various machining and tool-making equipment.
- Experience with steel-cutting drills.
- Operation of overhead crane.
- Tool & Die Maker, COQ required.
- 1-2 years of experience required.
