Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
This position supports the Adult Education Programs by ensuring a holistic, robust, and quality learning environment that supports The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, and values. Collaborates with the Adult Education team, other Community Services (Calgary) departments, and relevant external service providers, to identify and/or provide clients with educational opportunities, both internal and external, to further their personal and professional development.
Accountabilities:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below:
Program Facilitation and Coordination

With the support of the Community Program Manager, reviews, develops, and implements the Adult Education programs that meet client needs and adhere to Community Services (Calgary)
education standards.

Reviews and approves Adult Education curriculum in consultation with the Manager of Community Programs.

Research and/or develops new Adult Education course curriculum to ensure continued high quality and relevance to clients.

Develops monthly course schedules based on program guidelines, client needs, facilitators’ availability and qualifications, and room availability; considers other Community Services (Calgary) programming as able/appropriate.

Ensures facilitators have required resources.

Prepares monthly and annual program statistics.

Assist in the preparation of annual reports to funders as required.

Adheres to The Salvation Army’s policies and the Code of Conduct.
Administrative
-
Assures program is aligned and complies with Salvation Army Accreditation Standards.

Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of learning sessions by administering surveys or other tools.

Ensures Adult Education program data is accurate and recorded in a timely manner.

Prepares and submits documentation, reports and statistics as required to management.

Accumulates relevant program statistics.

Maintains confidentiality and keep accurate client files/case notes.

Assists in the preparation of quarterly reports to funders as required.

Assists in the preparation of program and funding proposals as requested.
-
Prepares monthly program report for the Community Program Manager.

Participate in regular Community and Family staff meetings as applicable.

Participates in regular supervision meetings with direct supervisor.

Attends meetings pertaining to position as assigned by the supervisor.

May assist Community Program Manager in researching and developing future community partnerships for the program.
Client Support
- Facilitates regular Adult Education program orientation sessions to potential participants and volunteers.

May facilitate Adult Education classes in the absence of qualified facilitator; and
-
May meet with clients to discuss/recommend future education plans.
Volunteer Coordination
- Orients, trains and volunteers for adult education programs.

Provides coaching and evaluation for volunteers.
Financial
-
Provides input into, and assists in monitoring, the Adult Education Programs annual operating budget.

Prepares and submits purchase requisitions, and other finance documents, in accordance with Finance procedures.
Working Conditions:
-
The incumbent’s work environment is typically on the work floor or in the office within a community-based center. Typically, Monday to Friday schedule, however, work schedules may vary and can include shifts that require flexibility to accommodate operational needs.

The incumbent minimal travel is required only as needed for training purposes or special events (up to 10%).

The performance of the job requires that normal/moderate attention be continuously paid to safety, and moderately paid to delivery/pick-up schedules, contracts, and reviews of product specification.

May be required to utilize de-escalation approaches with irate, irritable, and potentially aggressive clients.

Regular interaction with individuals may involve exposure to infectious illnesses; adherence to infection prevention and control protocols is required.
Education, experience, AND Qualifications:
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
-
Completion of high school diploma is required plus specialized coursework in the area of instructing.

Completion of two (2) years of Community College will be considered a strong asset.

Food Safe – valid certificate or willingness to take training• First Aid – valid certificate or willingness to take training.
Experience and Knowledge:

One year of prior related work experience including working with adults.
Skills and Capabilities:

Valid Full Driver’s License and clear Driver’s Abstract for the province are required.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $52,811.20 to $65,998.40 with a maximum of $79,206.40.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
