Position Summary
The Extrusion Tooling Specialist is responsible for preparing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing extrusion tooling to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role plays a critical part in ensuring tooling performance meets quality standards, dimensional requirements, and production run rates.
Working Hours
Our facility operates on a 24-hour production schedule, Monday through Thursday, utilizing two 12-hour shifts:
- Day Shift: 6:45 AM – 6:45 PM
- Night Shift: 6:45 PM – 6:45 AM
Employees may be assigned to either shift based on operational requirements. For the position of Extrusion Tooling Specialist, employees will be scheduled Monday to Friday 7:00AM to 4:00PM. Flexibility is required, as schedules may be adjusted to meet production demands. The Company reserves the right to modify shift assignments, schedules, and staffing requirements as necessary and will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of any changes.
Key Responsibilities
Tooling Preparation & Maintenance
- Prepare extrusion dies, calibration vacuums, jig plates, and related tooling for production.
- Review sample and running conditions from die testing and make required tooling adjustments.
- Complete and maintain tooling documentation, including shot reports and engineering drawings.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions to achieve quality and production targets.
- File, grind, shim, polish, fit, assemble, repair, and modify tooling components as required.
- Inspect completed tooling for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, contour conformity, and defects.
- Attend initial production runs to verify tooling performance and ensure product dimensions meet master sample specifications.
Equipment & Tool Usage
Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, including:
- Surface, profile, and rotary grinding machines
- Bench, die, and disc grinders
- Arc, TIG, stick, and portable welders
- Arbor presses, die spotting presses, and drill presses
- Precision measuring and inspection equipment including dial indicators, optical flats, telescoping gauges, and thread ring gauges
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all required quality inspections and tests are completed accurately.
- Identify and implement improvements that enhance tooling performance, product quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
