Full job description

The Construction Manager will oversee construction activities and support operational and maintenance teams by coordinating field execution, improving workload distribution during trouble response, and assisting with inspection programs aligned with asset replacement initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards, schedules, and budgets.

What You Will Be Doing

Oversee and coordinate construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and schedules.
Support planned work execution during trouble response situations to reduce delays and improve operational reliability.
Assist maintenance and operations teams with switch inspections and coordinate activities with switch replacement programs.
Ensure safety compliance and maintain effective communication with contractors, stakeholders, and project teams throughout all phases of work.
Manage the allocation of materials, financial resources, and personnel by applying strong technical knowledge of construction methodologies, estimating, and contract management to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Promote a strong safety culture by prioritizing the safe execution of work, conducting Safe Work Observations (SWOs), and providing constructive feedback to improve safety performance.
Identify, assess, and monitor project risks, including safety, environmental, reputational, regulatory, and Indigenous relations considerations, and develop mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
Support stakeholder engagement activities through effective communication, negotiation, and relationship management to ensure successful project planning and execution.
Respond to internal and external construction inquiries using sound knowledge of project management, engineering principles, policies, procedures, and industry best practices to maintain positive working relationships.
Act as a subject matter expert on project teams and committees, providing technical guidance and supporting the development of organizational capability.
Support project delivery by assisting with construction administration activities, including contract management, claims support, progress reporting, and issue resolution.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma of Technology in Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, trades certification, and experience.
Minimum seven (7) years of related construction, utility, industrial, or infrastructure project experience.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, contract administration, estimating, and project execution.
Experience coordinating contractors, stakeholders, and field crews in a safety-sensitive environment.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and safe work practices.
Experience with risk management, stakeholder engagement, and project controls is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

Travel to project sites may be required.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and field environments.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational requirements.

Pay: $75.00-$85.00 per hour

Work Location: On the road
