The Senior RFP Writer is responsible for leading the end-to-end development and submission of proposal and due diligence responses that support business growth across BMO Global Asset Management (GAM)'s full suite of investment solutions, including mutual funds, ETFs, alternatives, SMAs, group savings and other investment offerings.
Embedded within the National Accounts sales team, this role combines strategic writing, project leadership and business development.
The successful candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts across investments, product, compliance, operations, data, business administration, distribution, etc. to develop compelling, sales-oriented submissions that showcase BMO GAM's investment capabilities, product expertise and strategic differentiators.
This role offers broad organizational exposure, significant ownership and autonomy, and the opportunity to influence outcomes on some of the firm's most important growth initiatives.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the end-to-end project management and completion of Requests for Information (RFI), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQ), and other proposals for the National Accounts team and investment dealer head office clients including establishing timelines, coordinating contributors, and ensuring successful completion within required deadlines. This may involve complex opportunities and could encompass the full range of asset classes, investment strategies and product vehicles.
- Produce clear, compelling, accurate, and client-focused responses that effectively communicate BMO GAM's investment capabilities, business strengths, and competitive differentiation.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure high quality articulation of BMO GAM’s history, investment philosophy, capabilities, processes, investment strategies, and competitive advantages.
- Build strong working relationships with many and varied internal colleagues across BMO GAM and to some extent, BMO Financial Group, including senior and executive level leadership, and potentially vendors.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of BMO GAM's investment capabilities, including mutual funds, ETFs, alternatives, separately managed accounts, group savings solutions, and other offerings.
- Stay informed on investment markets, industry trends, product developments, regulatory changes, and competitor positioning.
- Contribute to managing content in the response content database; ensuring content is of the highest quality and up to date.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of the RFI/DDQ process.
- Support the ongoing development and utilization of proposal management systems, knowledge databases, automation tools, and AI-enabled solutions.
Qualifications
- Understanding of the investment management business including investment products (e.g., mutual funds, ETFs, alternatives, etc.) and markets is critical.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills, particularly with a deadline-oriented and varied workload.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to identify and effectively communicate [primarily via written formats] key differentiators and value propositions that support business growth.
- Complete fluency in both written and spoken English required (French an advantage).
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented self-starter who is resourceful and a committed team player with a positive attitude.
- Demonstrated success working in the asset management industry or similar role entailing regular response to client inquiries and/or due diligence/proposal requests.
- Prior knowledge of Loopio, Dasseti, DiligenceVault, and FlowPoint is an advantage but not essential.
- Prior use of Bloomberg and Morningstar is an advantage but not essential.
- An undergraduate degree is required preferably with a finance, investment, or communications focus.
- Completion of industry courses or designations such as the Canadian Securities Course, CFA, CIM are preferred.
$70,000.00 - $150,000.00
Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
