Instructor, Ski Resort Operations & Management

The School of Hospitality and Tourism is seeking a qualified instructor(s) to teach in the Ski Resort Operations and Management (SROAM) program. The successful candidate will teach courses including Ski Resort Facilities Maintenance, Ski Area Planning, Ski Lift Functions, Maintenance and Regulations, Ski Resort Slope Grooming Operations, Ski Resort Snowmaking Systems, Supervisory Ski Lift Operations, Ski Area Construction and Project Management, and Safety/Ski Patrol Operations. Visiting and assessing students during their work terms may also be required.

The amount of work offered to the successful applicant(s) will depend on the number of courses the applicant is qualified to teach based on their credentials, areas of expertise and experience. Classes start in August 2026 and run until the end of April 2027.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide instruction to students in the SROAM program
Prepare and deliver lessons and assessments that meet course learning outcomes
Facilitate student learning using relevant application of industry content
Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner
Create and maintain a positive and respectful learning environment while acting with professionalism at all time
Support continuous development and updating of curriculum to ensure relevance and currency of courses and the program
Maintain student records, grades, course outlines while adhering to institutional standards
Participate in school meetings and other duties as assigned by the school chair

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to teach
A robust understanding of the snow sport industry
Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills
Proficient computer skills and experience (including Microsoft Word, Excel)
Openness to feedback and commitment to reflective teaching practices
Strong desire to collaborate with colleagues and to contribute to a positive, respectful and innovating learning environment
Working knowledge of Moodle or other Learning Management System or experience in online delivery an asset
Ability to relate with a diversity of students from multiple cultural backgrounds

Education and Experience

Must have five (5) years of senior management experience in the snow sport industry with a combination of post-secondary education and related experience equaling a minimum of nine (9) years
Must have a minimum of a Diploma in a related field, however preference may be given to those with a degree in a related discipline
Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment an asset
Provincial Instructional Diploma or equivalent an asset
Red Seal Certification is an asset

This is a non-regular position, of up to 100% FTE depending on the courses awarded, commencing July 20, 2026, and ending May 7, 2027. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,763.30 - $4,428.06 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
