Full job description

Family & Early Childhood Anglophone East Inc. (FECAE) is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and motivated professional to join our team as a Family Educator.

FECAE is a not-for-profit organization contracted by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Through relationship-based, family-centered practice, our Family Educators partner with caregivers to strengthen child development, support positive parent-child relationships, and help families thrive.

Reporting to the Reflective Supervisor, the successful candidate will provide early intervention services to families with children from birth through age eight and assist in the annual delivery of the Early Years Evaluation – Direct Assessment (EYE-DA) program, supporting children's successful transition to kindergarten.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Provide home and community-based early intervention services to families with children from birth to age eight.
Complete developmental screenings and assessments using provincially approved tools.
Develop and monitor Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families.
Support families in achieving goals that promote healthy child development, positive parent-child relationships, and overall family well-being.
Advocate for families and assist with referrals to community resources and services.
Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and other community partners.
Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and electronic records in accordance with provincial standards.
Participate in reflective supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Promote and facilitate agency groups and parenting programs.
Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Early Years Evaluation – Direct Assessment (EYE-DA), including administering assessments, communicating with schools and families, discussing results, and supporting children's transition to kindergarten.

Position Details

Term: One-year position with the possibility of renewal.

Hours of Work:

August 31, 2026 – October 4, 2026: 24 hours per week
October 5, 2026 – January 31, 2027: 35 hours per week
February 1, 2027 – August 27, 2027: 24 hours per week

Regular hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility to meet the needs of families and agency programming.

Compensation

$25.00–$30.00 hour, commensurate with education and experience.
Mileage reimbursement for approved work-related travel.

The successful candidate will possess:

A university degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, or another closely related field.
Knowledge of child development and family-centered practice.
Experience working with young children and families.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong computer and documentation skills.
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
Fluency in English.

The following would be considered assets:

Experience in early intervention or family support services.
Experience administering developmental assessments.
Experience collaborating with schools and interdisciplinary teams.
Fluency in one or more additional languages.

Additional Requirements

The successful candidate must:

Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
Have access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel throughout the Anglophone East region.
Be available to work occasional evenings to support families and agency programming.
Be available to work very occasional weekends for special events and community initiatives.
Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening as a condition of employment.
Successfully complete a Social Development Record Check, arranged by the Agency.
Demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice.
